Recipe for a disaster vs. Kent State
Recipe for a disaster vs. Kent State
Last year Kent State simply walked into The Doyt and punched us in the mouth and made us look foolish from the get-go. Glancing at the stats from last year, two things jump out at me immediately that are real problem areas with us here in the last couple weeks. Turnovers and sacks allowed. Last year we turned the ball over six times against Kent State (three fumbles and three interceptions) and forced zero turnovers. On top of that, we were sacked five times and had zero sacks ourselves. We’ve already got our hands entirely full going into this game, but if we go to Kent next weekend and put up similar figures as above, we will be dealt another 35-point blowout.

Yeah, and last year we lost to Temple. What's your point? It's a new week and a new year. How the hell do we know that anything about this game is going to be similar to the previous year's?BGSU33 wrote:Last year Kent State simply walked into The Doyt and punched us in the mouth and made us look foolish from the get-go. What's my point? Have you not noticed what has happened to us over the past two weeks? My point is - what happened in last year's game vs. Kent State (6 turnovers and 5 sacks) is EXACTLY what has happened in our last two games vs. BC (6 turnovers, 4 sacks) & Miami (6 sacks, 3 turnovers). It might be a new year and a new week but we’re repeating history in manner we don’t want to be. It’s not the sole reason we are losing or why we lost these games (insert poor execution on offense and a porous defense here) but when you give the ball away that many times or you’re facing third and something in the teens, you are in a world of trouble. Last year Kent State buried us because of it, and the last two weeks, so has BC and Miami. If we don’t correct it and get our other issues straightened out, history WILL, not probably or could, it will repeat itself.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Yeah, and last year we lost to Temple. I understand the point trying to be made but it is a new week and yes a new year. Anything can happen any given weekend...we were not as prepared as Miami was this past weekend, so this week is a test for both the coaches and players. It will show a lot about the pride and determination of this team. There are typically anywhere from 90-100 plays for each team in a game and it only takes 1 play to make a difference in a ball game. Miami capitalized on our mistakes and we did not. I dont even remember how many times Miami put the ball on the ground but we did not capitalize on any of them. We cant afford that, if we get those fumbles/interceptions it is a completely different ball game...
I feel that this team is gonna prove a lot to all of us this week and blow Kent out of the water....GO FALCONS!

I'm telling you, I'm feeling a real statement by this BG team, similar to the big win over Ohio last year. When a really talented team bets embarassed by a team of a similar talent level and they're about to play another team of similar talent level, I'd say watch out next team. I think BG's gonna play motivated, focused ball, hopefully show something new offensively (we can always hope) and just roll all over KSU.

Hopefully your right....then again after OU last year things didn't go all that well.MarkL wrote:I'm telling you, I'm feeling a real statement by this BG team, similar to the big win over Ohio last year.
