Friday broadcast schedule

Post by bgsufn »

FYI...

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Friday (Nov. 9) will be a busy day for the Bowling Green State University department of athletics, as many Falcon teams will be in action. The department has announced the following plans for radio broadcasts on Friday.

The Falcons' football game at Eastern Michigan will be aired, as usual, on the Falcon Sports Radio Network, with Todd Walker handling play-by-play and Cal Bowers on color commentary. The football game begins at 7:30 p.m., with the pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m.

The men's basketball team opens the season Friday at 5:00 p.m., taking on Western Carolina at the Peggy Cronin Classic in Cincinnati, Ohio. Friday's game will air on student station WBGU-FM 88.1, and also can be heard over the internet through BGSUFalcons.com. While men's basketball is not typically broadcast on WBGU (the station is the flagship for hockey and women's basketball broadcasts), this one-time opportunity will help increase exposure, giving as many BGSU fans as possible the chance to listen to the team's first regular-season game under head coach Louis Orr.

Following the conclusion of the men's basketball game, the BGSU hockey game at Ferris State can be heard on both WBGU and over the internet. The hockey game begins at 7:05 p.m.

The Falcon women's basketball team opens the regular season Friday night, with a home game vs. Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. The game will be aired on WFAL-AM 1610, and will be available on the web on a tape-delay basis later Friday night.

The remainder of the weekend will see the broadcasts return to their regular flagship stations. WBGU will air Saturday's hockey game at Ferris State (faceoff at 5:05 p.m.), while Walker and the Falcon Sports Radio Network will be in Cincinnati for the men's basketball games vs. Belmont Saturday (4:00 p.m. tip) and UC Sunday (8:00 p.m. tip).

No football streamed on the internet? That's a bummer.

And unfortunately, I'll be too busy at that time of day to catch the men's hoops game, too. :(

The joy of TiVo. I won't be able to listen to the men's game since I'll be at work, but I could do chat. Will there be folks in the chat to keep a poor workin' soul updated (better than gametracker anyway)?

I'll probably try to drop into chat, at least for the football game, perhaps the end of the hoops game, I guess...

If I didn't absolutely dread the idea of dealing with AT&T/Dish, I'd probably order ESPNU to DVR the game for later Friday night. Maybe I'll pony up the few bucks to watch it through the MAC site, unless that's not available thanks to the Mouse... :?

Football will be streamed online. There is a "free live audio" link beneath the coverage section of the EMU/BG highlight, on the schedule page. I thought the whole reason they went with Stretch audio was so that multiple games could be broadcast at the same time.

I figured the same, but when clicking through the University link last week, football was offered, hockey was not.

Maybe we'll just have to try that Stretch direct link. Good find, I hope.
