Buffalo Game Balls....

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Yo. Back from Buffalo. The UB students were absolutely horrible...they kept walking around in groups of 50 or so and shouting "OHIO SUCKS!!!" I had to agree. How the hell did we lose to the Bobcats??? I don't get their mentality. I told one of them "Win something first before talking smack". I got a blank look back...not much active in that brain. Another one questioned why I was in orange and brown, head to toe. Hmmmm...is there something in the water up there? The best part is seeing an empty parking lot after the game. Where did they all go???

One cool thing...an elderly gentleman came up to my bud Chris and I and asked if we were BG fans. I said yes and he handed us two tickets for the game. He said "I was treated so well in BG last year when UB played and wanted to return the favor. You have great fans that treat folks well". That was great to hear...so much I didn't remind him of how idiotic the UB students were. Youth and alcohol...makes for a problem. LOL.

So, onto the game balls....

1) Coach Ward and the defense. I can count on one hand how many missed tackles I saw yesterday. I was so pleased with the pressure our front 4 got on Willy and the abilty to shut down the Bulls running game. Sure Starks had 137 yards but half of those came on his 63 yard run. We shut them down BiG time! GREAT EFFORT BY THE D!!!!

2) Tyler Sheehan. Celebrated his birthday yesterday with a BiG day after a shaky start. He ended up 20-29 for 248 yards and 2 TD's. He had some key carries on the ground as well as the throwback from AT for a score. That play works every time!

3) This is where it gets tough....Freddie Barnes had a monster day, 10 recp for 113 yards. AT had another huge day as well with 97 yards rushing, 25 passing and 37 receiving. I'll give them both a game ball as these guys are the go to cats right now.

All in all...a great trip and a BIG win. We played with focus, desire and determination. The Bulls were not going to win that game yesterday. There were no turnovers in the game by either team...a well played game.

Finally, hats off to Coach Brandon and staff for an excellent game plan. I know some here were writing this team off after the OU loss saying we would pack it in. Not so, my friends!

This team is ready for Friday. Matter of fact, they could have played last night after the Bulls game. :-D The kids are gonna get after UT and they want to end this streak BADLY. Friday won't get here soon enough.

As we walked out of UB stadium with snow flurries pounding us, I felt great on the inside. OUR team, my team, is guaranteed a winning season and can finish the regular season with 8 wins. It sux we lost to Miami and Ohio but what's done is done. For all the naysayers out there about Brandon, ya gotta give the man credit for keeping this team together, focused and ready to play. He should get MAC Coach of the Year with two more wins.

I gotta give at least a mini ball to Glenn Stanley. Based partly on his efforts in the last few games but also because of his TD saving tackle on the 4th and goal slant reception. U@B scores there and it is a 7 point game and we are an underthrown INT away from big mo wearing buff-blue. Stanley has been a sound defender, it is going to be great watching him progress in the coming seasons!

Also gameball to those hearty folks who were at the game. The Bulls radio guys on the video feed were commenting on a good BG contingent. Way to go.

I can't wait to get out there Friday morning and get ready for the big game! Big games always make the 12 hour drive a tad more enjoyable!

One thing about coach Brandon for all of his weaknesses in some areas the fact that the starting and backup QB for last years start of the season are now the starting RB and leading WR shows something special about the man.

The defense definitely bailed out the offense in the second half. They were continually put on the field after stalled drives by the offense and held their ground with impressive swarm tackling. The goal line stand was amazing. 17 points with 7 of them on a short field after a blocked punt against an offense with that many playmakers is commendable.
