Tulsa Looks good
Tulsa Looks good
I just checked out the Tulsa football site and they look impressive. They get 180 one the ground and 360 in the air. They do do it as a team, no real studs pop out. However one stat is just crazy. How do they get a reciever that averages over 30 yards per catch and he has over 1000 yds! This could be a fun game to watch.
I hate toledo

Should be a good game, but I have not done any research on you other than checking out who you've played. We have one 'stud' who you didn't seem to notice, and he's our #1 stud, QB Paul Smith. Yah Marion is pretty damn terriffic too, but we've got a couple of freshman who are pretty good too, Trae Johnson(WR) and Clay(FB). Tell us about your team. Looking to forward to seeing you in Alabama.

We started the season out as a pass heavy team against bigger teams in Minnesota and Michigan State. We were able to defeat Minnesota in OT, and lost to Michigan State 28-17 after being tied at 14-14 at half.
We destroyed Temple and WKU, the scores were closer due to garbage time TD's. We were leading Temple 48-21 and WKU 41-6.
BC gave us fits and set us back a little bit. Our QB, Tyler Sheehan had 5 INTs in the game and we basically fell apart. Miami wasn't much better, we resorted to the pass too much and became too easy to defend.
After trading a win and a loss against Kent and Ohio, we rolled off 4 straight as we basically played for our postseason lives. Our defense got better and our offense became more balanced, as we finished our final game against Toledo with only giving up less than 90 yards rushing and our offense churned out 200+ both passing and rushing.
As far as our team is concerned, we're likely gonna be missing a top WR in Corey Partridge and our top tackler in LB John Haneline. However, we went 4-0 without them. Anthony Turner emerged for us, the starting QB from last year and has become a tailback, receiver and QB since then. He has become our Tim Tebow with a bit more versatility catching the ball.
As mentioned before, Tyler Sheehan is our QB, our offense minimizes mistakes for the most part, usually 5-6 yard passes with an occasional 10+ yarder. Our best WR is Freddie Barnes, another QB from last year, and our RB will be split amongst Willie Geter, Turner and possibly Dan Macon/Chris Bullock.
On defense, PJ Mahone leads our team and tied for the MAC lead with 7 INTs, 1 for a TD. We recently gained more bodies up front with Michael Ream coming back from suspension and Jacob Hardwick from injury, so our front four are pretty solid. Our LBs are quick, Erique Dozier now leads the team in tackles. Our CBs might be the weakest point of our team, we don't cover well deep and tend to play a soft zone and give up short yardage.
Special teams, our K Sinisa Vrvilo has been solid all year, P Nick Iovinelli had a good season and KR Roger Williams came close to breaking a few.
We improved greatly as the season went along and feel confident in our team. A bowl win will be huge for next year where we lose only 5 starters. Hope that's good information, I'm sure people will add more.

The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Welcome to the board! I only saw about one half of the Tulsa/Oklahoma game earlier this season, but I came away impressed with Smith. The offensive stats are eye popping.Gmoney4WW wrote:Should be a good game, but I have not done any research on you other than checking out who you've played. Some notes about BG:
Our QB (Tyler Sheehan) is a true soph. He finished the season with 3,000+ yards passing and one of the top passer ratings in the MAC.
RB - our rushing stats are not very impressive, but we have a couple good backs. Anthony Turner, our starting QB last year, has really come on late in the year at RB and provides alot of versatility. He can run between the tackles or outside, line up out wide and catch passes, or throw the occassional pass lined up at QB or on a trick play. We also have a 5'5" or 5'6" back named Willie Geter that had some injury problems late in the year, but I would expect him to be pretty health by Jan. 6th. Expect Turner to get most of the carries.
WR - mainly Freddie Barnes after Corey Partridge went down, but we have a bunch of young guys outside. Chris Wright really came on late in the year and Jeremiah Kelley had a huge game against our rival, Toledo. We don't have a single senior in the group.
Oline - led by our Rimington Trophy finalist and All-MAC guy Korey Lichtensteiger. This group had some struggles early in the year, but they have really gelled recently and did a fantastic job during our 4 game streak to finish the year.
Dline - injuries really hurt this group throughout the year, but they seemed to be healthy late and the results were much better during the last two games. Fast DEs in Briggs and Hardwick and tough guys up the middle in O'Drobinak and Ream.
LBs - smallish, but very fast. True frosh Glen Stanley was a pleasant surprise after leading tackler John Haneline went down. Erique Dozier and Loren Hargrove make a ton of tackles, but they will miss tackles as well. Fundamental tackling has been lacking at times throughout the year.
DBs - much like every other unit, these guys are young. No seniors in the group. PJ Mahone went from a very talented backup to the best of the bunch with 7 picks at safety this year. This group will obviously be tested against Tulsa.
Special teams - a disaster last year, but really improved this year with Nick Iovinelli punting and Sinisa Vrvilo kicking it through the uprights almost automatically. Roger Williams has been really solid on KO returns also.
I am sure everyone will chime in here, but I hope this gives a good overview.
