With Syracuse and Southern Miss getting in today, that puts the bowl teams count at 56 (without the Northwestern/Hawaii game factored in yet - it's still going on). A maximum of two out of three teams (Northwestern, Hawaii, Tulane) can still get into the bowl picture. So let's say the maximum of two do get in, that would make it 58 teams that are then bowl eligible. I now have a feeling we're going to either be the last team to get in, or be left out. I'd say it's 50-50 right now.
If Hawaii beats Northwestern, NW is out and both Tulane and Hawaii are still in the mix. Tulane will host Louisville and Hawaii will host Michigan State next week. They both could get in, or just one, or neither. But we could see both get in and that would make the count 58 teams that get in. I'm really only confident of us getting in over Akron in these projections (which now do not include Marshall).
If we do not hear something this week about a bid, then we will probably need to wait yet another week and pray for Louisville to beat Tulane and for Michigan State to beat Hawaii no matter what next week to keep a glimmer of hope alive for us...........

I am not sure where the lack of confidence is coming from, but BG is a more attractive team when compared to Akron. Akron has an overall record of 6-5, compared to our 8-3. We were just ranked in the top 25, when Akron has received zero votes. Akron lost to Penn State by 38 points and Virginia by 51 points and they also had a loss to MTSU. Our non-conference loss came to Oklahoma and we kept the game a contest. We have a much more exciting team and this has been proven by the number of televised games we have had this year.
I could go on and on, but there is no comparison and we would definitely get picked before Akron.

I have a question about practice. Once you are bowl eligible are you allowed to practice the normal amount of times even though you have not received a bid. Or do they have to wait until they receive a bid to practice fomally. It would make sense that they are still practicing but I was just curious.

BelieveInBG, I said I felt confident we "would" get in over Akron, but I wasn't sure who else we might get picked over. I think we can get into a bowl, but I am not a bowl rep and that's what makes me nervous.
Northwestern lost last night, so there's 56 teams now in with possibly two more to follow.

I'm with 33 on this one....after all the screwjobs BG has received over the years for post season, I'm gonna wait until an announcement is made. Personally, I think BG is going bowling....but....
After Miami, UT and NUI...BG is the next choice. BG is better than Marshall and Akron and as mentioned here before, was ranked.
