10/18 KENT
10/25 @ Ohio
11/1 MIAMI
11/8 @ Akron
11/15 NIU
11/25 @ Toledo
Ahhh, I love it when Warthog talks speculative schedule ... 8)

In this scenario ...

Minny = Varsity BG Day
Buffalo = HC
Kent = Family Day
Miami = crappy weather day

I would love to have a game in between Wyoming and Boise State. Earlier speculation had us going there on back-to-back weekends, which would have been brutal, strictly from a travel perspective.

The OOC games and dates are what have been published in the weekly media notes. So I am gonna say those are solid. I think we will have an off week either 9/13 or 9/27. Probably would work better 9/13 as that comes after two games against BCS teams. But I could also see us having 9/27 off. That would give us at least three straight weeks in late Sept/early Oct without a game at DLP. Sure hope we can avoid that scenario as that is prime time for good attendance.

Also expect the UT game to be on the Tues (or Wed) before Thanksgiving. I think that when we have played up there the last few years, the game has been before Thanksgiving. That means no game on Sat 11/22, but also gives us more time to prepare for the MAC Championship game on 12/6. :wink:

If it was up to me we would still play every year...We had quite a bar fight going on there for a short time.

I don't remember where I copied the material below from, but I have a file that I keep for myself on my computer to update any news about future schedule such as possible opponents, updates, etc. The info below was from prior to the 2007 season and would have come from either bgsufalcons.com, the MAC, or one of our media outlets. Anyway, the opponents listed for BG below in 2007 are who we did play. According to this, our "mystery" MAC West opponent in 2008 would be Ball State at home. Obviously, this could very well not be the case and it could have changed, but whatever article I got this from, this is what was listed prior to the 2007 season. Interestingly enough, if you look at what is listed for 2009, BG is listed as facing five current MAC East (no Ohio on the schedule) and three current MAC West opponents. If this holds true, could this be a sign of the MAC expanding in 2009?

2007 - OHIO, AKRON, TEMPLE, TOLEDO, @Miami, @ Kent State, @ Buffalo, @ Eastern Michigan.

2008 - MIAMI, KENT STATE, BUFFALO, BALL STATE, @ Ohio, @ Akron, @ Temple, @ Toledo

2009 - AKRON, TEMPLE, TOLEDO, CENTRAL MICHIGAN, @ Miami, @ Kent State, @ Buffalo, @ Western Michigan.

Ball State at BG next year could be a MONSTER of a game, if your prediction/figuring holds true.

Yeah, it would be if it happens. I wish I could remember where that info came from. Either way, I guess we'll find out if it holds true and who we'll be playing soon.

It's Feb. 26 now. Dammit, Greg Christopher, why isn't the schedule posted yet? :lol:

Check the Ask the AD link again - there is a note saying that the MAC office asked schools to wait until Thursday for some reason.

Sheesh! 20 bucks says OU didn't like their schedule and asked for a change. :lol:

OK Drew, I'll be the first to bite........I don't see a MAC East loss based on this schedule. Akron possibly? And please, don't you dare say MIAudi. I have a real good feeling there is going to be some serious retribution for last year's debacle. :smt021

We won't lose to Akron. Temple could be a pretty difficult road game and Miami? Sheet. They won 8 of the last 9 against us. Hard to pick us to win until we do...and consistently. I am realllllly tired of losing to them in the last 10 years.

I think we beat Pitt...

Tougher than it looks ... two very long road trips (Wyoming & Boise). Temple on the road is tougher than it looks; take it from someone who personally witnessed our last visit to The Linc. Remember the last Buffalo game at The Doyt before penciling in a win. Miami, as Freak points out, is a tough one. And our struggles at the Glass Bowl speak for themselves. We'll have a good team in 08 and we'll need it. We have a tough road ahead of us.

Oh please 87, Buffalo is as close to a gimme as you can get in the MAC. We haven't lost to them since Gary Blackney resigned, and before that, wasn't our last defeat to them in the early 80's or something? Yes they played us tough in 2006, but we sucked in 2006. If they couldn't beat us then, they probably won't for a long time. Certainly not this year.

The two games that are going to be the toughest inside the East Division in 2008 are vs Miami and at Temple. I don't think Ohio is going to be very good, they're losing a lot of people. Ditto for Akron, although they aren't very good to begin with. Kent State probably won't be 3-9 again, but I have a feeling we'll handle them at home. And I already shared my two cents about Buffalo. Temple plays very tough at home, and they are one of the few MAC teams that know how to play defense. Plus, they had a very good offensive attack before their quarterback went down late last year. Call me crazy, but I think outside of Miami they are the biggest threat to us in the East Division. And Miami, well enough has been said about them, they play good defense, and they've had our number. To win the division, a home victory against the Redhawks will be a must.

Well, back in 2005, when we did not "suck" as we did in 2006 and before Turner Gill jumped-started the program, the Falcons found themselves in quite a battle. In fact, the Falcons were up 14-7 until about 11 minutes remained in the game. That's when B.J. Lane gave them a more comfortable lead. Lane iced the game about 7 minutes later with another score.

But it was far from a cakewalk. If Drew Willy hadn't stunk on ice, the Bulls well might have pulled that one out.
