Notre Dame coach is fired
Sure, a game at ND, in ten years when their schedule opens up. Then they can buy us out in exchange for half a dozen basketball games.....
We have been talking about Urban going to ND since before he arrived for the press conference announcing his taking the job at BGSU. ND fans love mystic connections and signs, this will be one of them.
Now maybe I can find a new route to getting tickets.....

Except he could change anyone of them at any time, so he really could out to anywhere he wanted...but really...those were his dream jobs. He's going to ND for sure.Falconfreak90 wrote:Meyer is as good as gone from Utah. ND, OSU and Michigan were the only outs for his contract.
Looks like Shelly isn't going to be skiing as much.
They fired Ty??? Wow....
Well if he does go to ND you cannot blame him, it's an oppurtunity that may come along only once. I think he would have been stupid to take any other job offer. He is an awesome place right now. In only 2 seasons he has argueably made the Utes a top 5 team. Two more seasons and you might be talking Utah as one of the premier football schools.FalconKing wrote:Except he could change anyone of them at any time, so he really could out to anywhere he wanted...but really...those were his dream jobs. I like TW and I hope he finds a coaching job with a little less stress. I have always been a fan of ND and have been unhappy with their hirings since Lou left. I think Meyer lives up to my standards for ND. If he can't get them back on top nobody can. Assuming he's going there.

Some interesting notes from the SI.com article (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/f ... ml?cnn=yes):
"Players are considering not playing in the Insight Bowl on Dec. 28, and White said he didn't know who would coach the game. Notre Dame accepted the invitation to the game on Sunday."
I wonder who's considering not playing? The whole team? Doubt it...but still it's newsworthy.
One coach certain to be mentioned as a possible replacement for Willingham is Utah's Urban Meyer, an Irish assistant during 1996-2000. The Utes are 11-0 and ranked No. 5 in their second year under Meyer.
Meyer said he hadn't heard about Willingham's departure from Notre Dame until he was asked about it by The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Asked whether he has had any contact with Notre Dame or whether he would be interested in coaching the Fighting Irish, Meyer responded: "I won't comment on it."
Classy comment by Urbie, but he's gone.

That would be awesome, but I just cannot see the Irish playing a MAC school. Has that happened in the last 25 years. I don't remember any times and when you consider there close to location to about half of the MAC schools it does not look like they are itching to start playing any.windycityfalcon wrote:Oh.. Maybe with him there the Falcons can work out a deal with the Irish like the one we have coming up with Wisconsin over the next couple years
