Coach Kill? What a great name. Hello, I'm Kill....Jerry Kill.

The wacky shirt thing will work with some players and not work with others. How long before those shirts become hipster-emo-indy-cool on the campus of NIU? That's assuming those cats even know about their team.

Best thing about the NIU team is that gorgeous dog they have for a mascot. He's a beaut. If he takes a crap on the sideline, will they make a special doggy "I let the team down" shirt?

GO BG!!

Somehow you missed one very important point. The letters are PINK. Once again a coach of males is using something that indicates the female gender as negative, or not tough enough.
Why not make the letters flaming red on the yellow background? That would stand out. Or black. Pink was picked for a purpose.

We have a ways to go yet guys. I know several of you have daughters and scarily many have found wives. :D Do we tell our esteemed Stephanie Swiger that her efforts are just a joke because she is just a girl and not "tough". Maybe KAte Achter should stroll out to one of their practices.

One of these days I am going to trip getting down off of my soapbox, but seeing leaders of men perpetuate the disrespect of women and the toughness of women athletes just chaps my AZZ.

always:

Sidebar - the boys in Noah's school are very keen on wearing pink shirts. It's their reaction to being told that "pink is for girls." Noah hasn't caught on to that, mainly because I think he's too busy to pay attention to that sort of thing, but I've definitely seen it and the boys are doing it to make a point.

Huumm...the lettering on the sign worn by the asexual Wal-Mart thief looks to have a pinkish hue, so that might bring us closer to an answer there.

Former Iowa coach Hayden Fry used to have the visiting locker room at his home stadium painted pink because studies showed it promoted docility, although in the short term it probably just enraged the players and fired them up even more.

I know these articles tell an old story, but ...

... its the same idea, sorta. And it got shut down. Will history repeat itself?

Thanks for the links.

I guess I am a firm believer if one person has the guts to take a stand maybe someone will notice and something will get done.

I am thrilled that Coach Nutt was called to rethink his color choice. Do I have a problem with coaches and discipline....Nope...as long as they aren't insane..... but let's watch what ELSE we are conveying on our way to teaching other things.
