As far as "doesn't affect the team", I say that anytime a former player, especially a starter, does something like this, it affects the team. Even moreso when he's four months removed from the playing field. It sucks, and I hope (times infinity if he's guilty) this is used as an example of how not to represent the team and the university.

Really disappointed to read this. Only really met Hargrove once, but he was a really nice guy and up to this point I considered him one of my Falcon favorites, hopefully he can stay that way. I know people make mistakes, but if it's true, that's one hell of a mistake to make.

Pretty impressive roster there with Hargrove, Melvin Cole and Chris Paul.vwfalcon wrote:not trying to discount the stupidity at all but did anyone else notice the name listed two names above Loren's on the inmate roster? I know it's listed last name first but what are the odds... irony

I have a hard time believing this. I met Loren on several occasions, and nothing about him ever even remotely smacked of him being the type of person to get caught up in this type of thing. I hope to God I'm right about him, for his sake.
What is really surprising is that there are two Jeffery Boyers' in the same jail, and that both, even more surprisingly, look like winners.
Oh, sometimes I need to laugh...

It makes me wonder about Loren's or others student athletes college experience and the statement that the Athletic department is helping to training future leaders. I don't want to make a generalization, but this young man had success on the field, his life through out college may have been directed by a coach or assitant and he probably did not have to think for himself to much. Now he is out of college and what is he going to do? There isn't anybody to make sure he sticks to his schedule, his meals and housing are not provided. Let's face it life can be a bit intimidating for a young man just out of school. Sorry for rambling with semi incoherent thoughts, but it is sad that someome can go from "hero to zero" in four months, maybe he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

OMG...I can't believe what I just saw. I always thought Loren was a good kid. He is innocent until proven guilty but this doesn't look good at all.Redwingtom wrote:Loren Hargrove IS in the Shelby County Jail for possession AND trafficking so it must have been a fairly large amount.

Idiot!
I talked with Loren after many games and at BG functions. I know he had some rough times in the past but....Man. This sux. I pray he gets this behind him and can do something productive with his life. This is really bumming me out.
How about Melvin Cole smiling in his mug shot?
