Watch Fourth of July fireworks at ‘The Doyt’

Doyt L. Perry Stadium will be the site for the annual Bowling Green community Fourth of July fireworks.

The Perry Stadium gates will open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4. The field will be open to the public until 8:30 p.m. Fans are welcome to bring footballs or Frisbees or simply walk on the FieldTurf.

A free concert by members of the Bowling Green Community Band, under the direction of Nick Ezzone, will begin at 8:30 p.m.

The fireworks are scheduled to follow at approximately 9:45 p.m.

No outside food, beverages or sparklers will be allowed into the stadium. However, the stadium concession stands will be open to the public where food, soft drinks, water and beer will be sold.

As is, no way I'm going to go into the stadium and pay for food/beverages to watch the fireworks when you can take your own stuff and watch the same fireworks from just outside the stadium.

It is wrong. It is up to the university's discretion. I believe Cincinnati serves alcohol at their sporting events. I know KSU sells beer at Dix stadium.

There aren't many schools that sell alcohol, but there is not an NCAA rule against it.

Mmmmmmm. beer,..Really, really, really expensive beer. There's no way the restroom facilities at the Doyt could handle beer vending. It would greatly reduce the fun for all. I'd rather drink in the parking lot before the game.

I've said it since I was a frosh at BG. You want to sell-out the Doyt consistently? Sell beer! Goes to show how sad Kent is...they sell it and still can't get asses in the seats.

Line up Port a Johns next to the fence surrounding Perry Stadium...of course it took us 3 years to get more than 5 in the tailgate lots so maybe not.

Alcohol can't be sold at NCAA Championship events. I've run into this a couple of times going to the NCAA Hoops tourney in Syracuse. Dome Beers are a staple during the regular season, but nowhere to be found during March Madness.
