Well, I don't know if you were at the game last year, but I was, and their RB's did run all over us in the 2nd half. If UM's Offensive Coordinator would have decided to run on us from the start, we probably would have lost. By the second half, as was the case with our previous games against Oklahoma, Ohio State, Wisconsin, etc., Minny was able to run the ball and control the clock at will. As much as I loved being at the UM game last year, we were lucky to come out of that with a win.
To win against Minn this year we're going to come out like we did last year.
Remember we were up 21-0 at halftime last year. The Minny crowd/team were stunned, but they were still able to inch their way back into the game (and take the lead towards the end).
I think we need the same to happen this year. Get up by a few scores early, try to establish the run, and use that home crowd to our advantage this time around.

Not many of the current students actually know what the true home field advantage at BG is actually like. I think people will be dumb-founded when they see what a big crowd at the Doyt is like, especially against a big team like Minny.
Yeah right girl!
Oorah!
Oorah!
I wish every BG fan could have experienced the NIU game back in 03. The home field advantage for that game was like nothing I'd ever seen. We had a full student section 20 minutes before the game. Of course, having the gameday crew there kind of amplified our school spirit. But still, it was an amazing experience that really made me a BG fan.The Niz wrote:thewebboy wrote: use that home crowd to our advantage.

Good games with big crowds are what can really hook a new student or fan. Hopefully that can happen again with Minny coming to town.
Marquis Gray is a QB not a RB and I don't know about last year because I didn't care. I care this year because I think Minnesota is going to be a suprise team and finish in the top half of the Big Ten. They had a good recruiting class the last two years. Time for some of them to step in and step up.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:Wasn't Minny's running back suppose to run all over us last year as well and they were suppose to blow us out

Thanks for the heads up, you said he would run all over us so I assumed he was a RB, we'll see what happens I guesstekekini wrote:Marquis Gray is a QB not a RB and I don't know about last year because I didn't care. He is a running QB, spread option type. Rich Rod wanted him at UM, didn't get him. I believe he was one of the top 5 QB recruits in the country and also was also OSU's 2nd choice if they didn't land Pryor.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:Thanks for the heads up, you said he would run all over us so I assumed he was a RB, we'll see what happens I guesstekekini wrote:Marquis Gray is a QB not a RB and I don't know about last year because I didn't care. Well, even if he is as good as advertised, which he might very well be, true freshmen usually have a lot of growing pains starting right out of the gate, especially at the quarterback position. Minny's game against us will be his 2nd ever in college. Now that doesn't mean that he will struggle and throw a bunch of INTs, but its far from a guarantee that the guy will "run all over us" on September 6, especially inside the Doyt.tekekini wrote:He is a running QB, spread option type. I was there for that game. I actually walked over to the stadium on Friday evening for the Friday broadcast, and after they finished their broadcast they turned around and told us over the microphones that we were the largest crowd they had ever received for a Friday taping (there were about 50 of us there). I guess Fridays aren't the popular. Saturday, I didn't get there early enough I guess, because by the time I got there (8:00ish) there were already close to 250-300 people there. I got my sign on TV once, which was nice.thewebboy wrote:I wish every BG fan could have experienced the NIU game back in 03. The home field advantage for that game was like nothing I'd ever seen. However, the main thing that I remember from that game is the gameday crew, it was the game atmosphere as was mentioned above by others. I could not believe we were able to get that many people to the game that day, but with the stadium as packed as it was, that place was actually pretty damn loud. Usually, if I start yelling, I felt like the entire team could hear every word I said. That day, I yelled and the person next to me was lucky to hear me. I've never gone home from a game so hoarse since I've been here

I don't think Michigan ever offered Gray...highly touted though he is, he will be a true freshman this fall. He hasn't even practiced with the team yet (unless he was an early admit...I'm too lazy to look) so anointing him the starter and declaring him ready to run all over anyone seems a tad premature.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

That 2003 NIU game was the best atmosphere I've ever seen at BG...wasn't at the 1983 UT game with 33K+. 30 min before the game, the whole crowd is going crazy and the noise level was deafening. The Falcons came out so charged up there was NO WAY NIU was gonna win that day. We got there around 9 AM and the crowd at the Gameday crew area was unreal....footballguy51 wrote:I was there for that game. We need to pack the Doyt for all games...not just the BiG ones.

I am not going to look it up because he is already on campus in Minnesota so it doesn't matter anymore but I thought UM offered after he had already announced for Minnesota around the time of the Army All American game in San Antone.Flipper wrote:I don't think Michigan ever offered Gray...highly touted though he is, he will be a true freshman this fall. OSU was waiting on Pryor so never offered. He wanted to go to OSU but got tired of waiting and committed to Minnesota.
he won't start right away, you are right about that, because Minnesota's starter from last year is only a sophomore. However, if he chokes early Gray will get a shot.
