Unless I'm mistaken, I think it means Graduate Assistant.

Yup. GA's break down tape, run the scout teams and perform a myraid of other tasks assigned by the football staff. They also have to take graduate classes on top of everything to be considered 'students' and not members of the regular coaching staff.
