Official Pitt Tailgating thread

Post by Jacobs4Heisman »

Who's coming, and where should we set up? I'm thinking the gold lots in between the two stadiums is probably our best bet. Pittman said something about part of those lots being for Pitt Season ticket holders. Any Pitt regulars around know if we won't be able to get in some part of the gold lots?

I would have to assume we'll be able to get into those lots unless somebody tells us different.

Are you bringing your flag, Freak? It's generally a good beacon for everyone to look for =)

My wife and I will be walking over from the Springhill Suites. Somebody point me to the grill!

J4H,

You know it! The flag never gets left behind. Gold lots sound good to me unless Pittman or any other Pitt fans tell us it isn't a good idea.

Less than 4 days....GO BG!

It's going to be a short tail gate by the time we roll out of bed, but I'll be looking out for the BG folk in the gold lot. I'm planning on feeding before entering so hopefully I can get our crew of four parked by 10:00 just in time to fire up the grill.

We're staying about 35 minutes south in New Stanton Friday night. The original plan was to hit the road by 8:15 or so, but I might bump that up a little. I'll look for the Freak flags...

For reference:

I didn't see anything on the Pitt site other than first come, first serve for single game parking. Hopefully some Pitt fans can provide a definitive answer.

We are staying at the Hampton Inn downtown and I'm hoping to be at the lot between 8 and 8:30. 4:30 Friday afternoon can't get here soon enough!

Not sure how fast I'm going to get my Pittsburgh cousins moving on Saturday, but I'd like to be there by 10:00.

Freak, I'll see you in the stadium for sure.

We're staying there Saturday night. We had a room for Friday night as well, but opted to save a few bucks and stay further south.

Hope to hear some AZZ into the night Saturday!

I've always parked in gold lot, but I have the pre-sold pass...I cannot tell you w/ 100% certainty if the whole lot is presold or not.. Sorry.. It would'nt hurt to try, and above is a pretty decent map of the north shore...

Here's a little website dedicated to Pitt's running back as well..

Thanks for the info, Pittman. Are the other lots in (bowling) green pre sold? :-D

Perhaps we should have a backup lot in case we can't park in the gold lots?

We should definitely try the gold lots first and if those are all pre sold, go for the green lots.

Thoughts?

Any objections of a group of 10 in the nearby vicinity? We'd basically be independent, but it'd be nice to be close to BG fans :D

All of the colored lots are pre-sold, to some extent. Gold and Red would be very hard to get into without a pass, especially for more than just 1 or 2 people.

That sucks that those lots are all pre-sold - I can;t imagine they'll be aaaanywhere near full at 9:00 in the morning.

In any event, somebody mentioned a good alternative in another thread about a parking garage roof. Any idea which garage would be good from that standpoint?

OK...here is a plan!

Post by Falconfreak90 »

I have been informed of a great place for all Falcon fans to meet and this lot knows we're coming. There will be orange signs at the front of this lot and parking should only be $10. It's about 4 blocks from the stadium.

http://www.alcoparking.com/gameday.htm

If you look at this map, check out the area at Green Lot 23. The lot we should meet in is right next to it on Allegheny Ave. I've been told the owner of the lot knows BG fans are coming and will accomodate us! I was also told all the lots down there (especially the gold lots) are pre-sold and on one way streets. So it's easier just to meet in this new location and march like an orange and brown army down the street at game time.

It is also the best location for leaving after the game and going North back to Ohio. I'm all for that cuz as cool a city as Pittsburgh is, it is very easy to get turned around in different directions.

Does this sound good to everyone?

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!
