2 well played games (Pitt and Minn) and most all of this will be forgotten. Maybe we're lucky to be shaking off the riff raff. In every population there is a typical amount of trouble makers, and many of our troublemakers have been caught. They will be dealt with and forgotten. Fight that gag reflex you drama queens. Less than 77 hours to Pitt!! Go Falcons!

Hope you're chugging Gatorade in between bouts of puking. Hate to see a good guy like you get dehydrated. Drama queen!Rightupinthere wrote:I'm conflicted about supporting this program. I want to say that I will support the remaining kids who are decent chaps and just want to do what's right.
Being in the insurance industry, however, I have to wonder how the actions of a growing few is indicative of the population. Meaning, we are having more and more kids suspended from the team by the week (or so it seems.) Do we have decent kids on the team or just a bunch of guys who haven't been caught yet?
It seems as though the A.D. and H.C. has to perform some SERIOUS damage control at this point. Failure to do so will have me leaning towards my belief that we have a bunch of our football players who just haven't been busted yet.
Welcome to the new "Pen State." Good thing we have orange in our colors because we won't have to get custom jump suits.
I'm going to go vomit some more.

Sure thing, Holly-Go-Lightly. Thank you for showing me the light.FortWayneFalcon wrote:2 well played games (Pitt and Minn) and most all of this will be forgotten. That probably wouldn't be that outlandish of an idea, plus it's one game check worth of pay that we could save up for his buyout.Redwingtom wrote:I think it high time that Mr. Christopher send a message as well. Gregg Brandon should ALSO be suspended without pay for one game for this. Let him fight it in court if he thinks it violates something in his contract.
Anyone who thinks this stuff is going to be forgotten if we play well in a couple games is sadly mistaken. I know there are a lot of people on this board who are BG lovers first, and football fans second. A good deal of people here support the program because they represent our alma mater. I don't think anyone can be too proud with the way this program has represented the alma mater in recent months, and a few good games of football are sure as hell not going to change that.
As far as I'm concerned this stuff wouldn't happen if the players had any respect for their team, their school, or their coach. Isolated incidents happen, and you cannot have a team full of angels, but it's really started to get out of hand. As RUIT said, I'm sure there are still some great guys on this team, but how many of the ones still out there are just guys who have yet to get caught? Could be zero, could be all of 'em; reality is likely somewhere in between, but which direction it skews is the real question.
I guess we should've seen this coming. We haven't been able to put a disciplined, fundamental football team on the field in the past 4 years. What makes us think these guys would understand discipline and fundamentals off the field?
I've read through this entire thread - and Ryan's blog - and only one word comes to mind. Sad. And sad in so many ways.Falconfreak90 wrote:Grant,ZiggyZoomba wrote:This is really bugging me....
MY money has gone to support these kids and they turn and do this... that bugs the shi+ out of me at this point.
Sorry, that's just how I'm feeling at the moment. People say these guys get a free ride through college.... nope. THEY don't pay for it... but we do. I feel shat upon.
I was thinking the same thing the whole way home. It AIN'T a free ride...someone has to pay for it. These guys KNEW what they were doing was wrong. Just like Barrow and Hardwick. We have to pay the piper when we make bad choices. When I chose to drive drunk and got caught, I had to pay by spending days in the clink.
Ugh...it certainly sucks.
And someone else mentioned why they weren't asked for an ID. NO KIDDING! I can see getting away with it at the pump but in a store??
As a writer, I like to think words are important. So when I saw these words inside the Falcon football lockerrom, I had to think they were important to the team.

Now, well, now I'm not so sure.

When DJ Young verballed here he talked about how cool it was that the "football team ran the town"... we had some laughs about that at the time, but that comment is pretty disturbing in light of this summer's events.
I'm as big a defender of Grgg Brandon as anyone on this board. Nonethless, you HAVE to see a correlation between the frequent lack of discipine on the field and the repeated incidents of criminal behavoir off it.
It would seem that the team needs someone to drop the hammer and drop it hard

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Flip, In regard to your comments about 'dropping the hammer', I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea if the captains of this team went to the coach and told him we don't want those guys back. Isn't that the kind of leadership we would like to see come from within the team?

It shouldn't really come down to the captains, IMO. This is a pretty cut and dry situation for the coaching staff to handle. You've got 3 players who willingly and blatantly broke the law for an extended period of time. This is where Brandon and Co. have to grow a pair, realize that as much as they are teachers, they're also "bosses".Warthog wrote:Flip, In regard to your comments about 'dropping the hammer', I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea if the captains of this team went to the coach and told him we don't want those guys back. If I were on the team right now, there's no way in hell I want these guys back in uniform. However, the other thing that worries me is if and hopefully when these guys are booted off, how many current players are still going to be chummy with these guys after the fact of all this going down? Either way, this has big distraction written all over it and I hope the higher ups in the program exude the judgment that the university is paying them for.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Boy, Warthog, that is absolutely spot on and a great idea. Would certainly be the type of leadership I'd like to see from our team.Warthog wrote:Flip, In regard to your comments about 'dropping the hammer', I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea if the captains of this team went to the coach and told him we don't want those guys back. I know this is OT...so I would feel better if this subject was discussed on another thread.Warthog wrote:Certainly don't want to hijack this thread with something positive, but did I miss an announcement about that someone who didn't show up at Ball State, but he will be playing for BG?freefalcon wrote:HELLO BSMAN62...Welcome back to the nest. However...thanks freefalcon and warthog...no matter what is happening right now...the Schafers are very excited to be a part of BGSU.
I'd like to see it too, but like JP said it should not come to that. It should be handled by the coaching staff before the team captains even have to contemplate it. If it gets to the captains requesting this sort of thing then the coach is not doing his job, IMO.1987alum wrote:Boy, Warthog, that is absolutely spot on and a great idea. Awesome, great to have you all back. This definitely deserves a thread of it's own rather than getting caught in the doom & gloom nature of this thread.bsman62 wrote:I know this is OT...so I would feel better if this subject was discussed on another thread.Warthog wrote:Certainly don't want to hijack this thread with something positive, but did I miss an announcement about that someone who didn't show up at Ball State, but he will be playing for BG?freefalcon wrote:HELLO BSMAN62...Welcome back to the nest.
