I know what you mean, but don't pinpoint the entire student section. There were a lot of students and I know most of the sections around me joined in chanting "ass hole" and pointing our thunder sticks at the people who were doing the throwing. All of my friends wanted to keep our seat cushions so I'm really glad they gave them out. I go to all the hockey games and between periods I'd like to have something comfy to sit on.
It was annoying though because I got hit a few times.

I was in the very front row in the student section with a bunch of people that actually cared about the game. almost all of the students that were throwing them were in the upper section. i can't believe that they didn't have police up there doing something about it. i'm really disappointed with the game operations people or whoever runs that kind of stuff for not doing something about it right when it started

I think it's odd that they didn't throw the people throwing things out because they turfed some drunk guy from our section on the west side and all he was doing was yelling about how the Big 10 was in "our house".
He wasn't swearing or threatening anyone..just yelling a lot and waving his arms. He looked more comical than threatening. i tried to start a "bring back drunk guy" but it didn't go anywhere

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

One of the best game atmospheres ever at a BG football game as far as I am concerned - at kick off.
Tremendous turn out by students, alums, core fans (as always), community, university people and just plain folks who were interested in the Big Ten opponent and night game start. Just super. Celebrate this as a Falcon fan as far as I am concerned. Sure the flying seats were horrible.
Among items you won't see in my opinion- seat cushions and students unable to make onto the field for the pregame tunnel. Not good. An item you might see- more student entrances for big games.
What a super problem to have as far as student turnout. Now identify the issues, fix the them, clean it up and have fun. Don't answer that students won't come back- many will and many stayed to help us win the game in the fourth quarter. Not their fault their QB put us away retreiving a bad snap and flinging a miracle pass for a miracle catch and a miracle first down.
Then we fumble.
Don't fumble.
Go Falcons!

Back to topic...J5 got hit in the head. That's about the time I felt our freshmen (I blame them for being the only ones who got cushions) had become the most disrespectful fans I've ever seen in our stadium.

FF1, this is one of the simplest, most profound statements that I have seen in a long time. This needs to be painted in big, bold letters in the locker room, in my opinion. Absolutely fantastic.falconfan1 wrote:

The cushion throwing was ridiculous, but it was cool to see all those ex-players on the field.Metz wrote:I don't know how many football players do mounts and stunts...just sayingfootballguy51 wrote: Are you a cheerleader, or a football player?vwfalcon is most definitely a cheerleader. I've never seen the whole sideline of cheerleaders, media, and ex-players as pissed as they were. It got ridiculous.

Brandon should have grabbed the mic. and said,

I bet if somebody hauled off and decked one of the people throwing the cushions, the only person in trouble would have been the person who hit the guy.
Thinking back on it, I'm sure there was more I and many other students could have done to help remedy that situation. Also, you can't tell me that the total lack of caring by the student's section didn't have any sort of impact on the game, even in the slightest bit. You're out there playing a game, and you realize that the people that are there to support you are more interested in throwing seat cushions than rooting you on. And Minnesota sees this and sees it as disrespectful to them. Now, I'm not saying it actually happened that way, but maybe one or two players felt that way, but that was enough. I'm sure, if nothing else, that some of the players discussed it on the sidelines.
