Boy, did my family and I had a great time at the game!!
Started off tailgating (1st time) and flat out met some of the nicest folks around. We walked from party to party and just met the folks who were having a great time before the game. Everyone made sure I had a cold one and the family was well feed. I am looking forward to the next four years of tailgating and cementing friendships and making new ones too.
Sat with the parents of the players and had great time with them too. My voice was shot at the end of the game with all the cheering, laughing and talking that was going on before and during the game.
Yeah, we lost a game we should have won. Just can't turn the ball over five times and expect to win. Hope every one learned something from this lost and regroups. Two more non-conference games (split?) then league play. Saw a lot of good in the game and the season is not lost by a long shot.
I guess my crew will have take the tail-gaiting route next time. We chose the alumni tent --- a matter of tradition, but this time around, it was a total disappointment. Just a couple of years ago, it was free --- with a appitizing buffet. This year, it was five bucks/head, and the selection was a burned (and I mean burned) hot-dog and a beer or soft-drink. We were really disappointed and will not return.

I can tell you that I've been a number of "official" functions (alumni, etc.) and nothing ... NOTHING compares to the AZZ.com tailgate.

Can't argue with that statement!

Yep, we usually have a good time at the azz.com tailgates, at least the parts I remember.
Hey next time I'm walking around with a bottle of rum, guys, punch me in the face or something. I hate getting to the point where I don't even remember much of the game, regardless of how poorly we played...

But at least they saved some wings for ya...

The funny part was watching you try to stab those cherries in the bottle!! You looked like you were almost hurting yourself concentrating so hard!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second." ~~USCHO Poster "BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got." ~~USCHO Poster, AFTER Tech beat us #NeverGiveUp

I have to agree...man those things were S T R O N G. Hammb, how's your grill and cornhole game? You didn't pull a WMU game in the stands this time, did you?

FALCON FOOTBALL ROCKS!
It was great to see everyone on such a perfect day!
Freefalcon- thanks for stopping by and saying hello, same to SanFran, it's always nice to add new faces and friends to the tailgate scene!
What an atmosphere in the stadium, it was so full we had to actually sit in our reserved seats on the East side- haven't sat on that side in 20 years or so. West side stands looked awesome and even the East side got in to the game when we could.
Lines sucked to get in, but that's what happens when 10-15k all try to get in less than 1/2 hour to kickoff. Ticket takers were efficient and nobody was blatantly cutting in line.
Lines to the toilets at halftime were non existent.
Heard some complaints about concessions stands, after a quick trip to the john at start of half time I walked up to a new portable stand and got a polish sausage with peppers and onions that was very, very good- a nice addition and no line.
Loved the new orange unis- look so crisp with the orange and brown accents. (Wish our brown tops had similar orange markings instead of just brown/white).
Orange seats and fresh paint looked great on the stadium- now the just need to maintain it so we don't get pink steps in a few years. Scoreboard topper looked good as well.
Listing M.A.C. Championships and Bowl Games was a very welcome addition on the press box. Hate to be picky, but I think they might look better (more readable to all) on the Sebo front, but A+ for effort, B for execution!
As for the gameplay- we turned it over 5 times. Can't expect to win there. Also, give credit to Minnesota's gameplan, they didn't let up, kept moving the ball and it looks like Weber is comfortable in the spread now and Decker was a nice little weapon for them.
If you are still fuming about taking the L consider this: yes we lost to Minnesota in a game the pundits penciled us in as winning but there were good spots (O-Line, Briggs) and we are still in position to battle for a conference title something that has been sorely absent in these parts since 1992.
One final thought on the game, even with the loss, wasn't it a lot more fun to play host to a Big Ten team, in a packed, big-time atmosphere stadium, on a glorious day, after a tremendous day of tailgating than it would have been to hang 70 on Tennessee Tech?
You know my answer. (And I had to drive 22 hours round trip to enjoy it!)

HAHA, yeah, stabbing them was proving more and more difficult as the evening went on!
The grill is in great shape, you cannot kill a Weber.
The cornhole game didn't fare as well, because it was a low quality store bought unit and my knee landed right on it. My knee fared a little better with only minor cuts
Actually I had no such WMU debacles and by the 3rd/4th quarter actually started to feel pretty good...very strange day as I got drunk way quicker than expected and sobered up much quicker than expected...felt fine Sunday as well.
My goal for the rest of the season will be to remain far more coherent...I think I can do it

I've got five bucks that says you don't.
I glad to hear that the tailgate was such a rousing success. Was the usual trailer tunnel set up as usual?
I hated having to miss the game, but I am hoping to be there for the next one. Falcon Fanatic had better keep a leash on BGFan this year, though.
