Boise State had only three good offensive drives in the first half. Though they produced all of Boise State's points, they were all tough drives. BG made incredible half-time adjustments and shut down Boise's usually productive offense. Consider this: 254 yards on 30 plays in those 3 drives; 91 yards on 26 plays for the whole rest of the game. The last time BSU was shut out in the second half at home was in 1989! That's great defense AND great coaching!
BG entered Boise territory on 7 of its 10 possessions. A couple made field goals and a couple less mistakes (and one less questionable turnover call) and the game is yours.
Virtually ALL of the sell-out crowd (new stadium record, BTW) stayed 'til the very end of the game. Not until BG's last offensive drive ended did anyone think the game was out of reach for BG to come back. This tells me 1) all of us BSU fans who were there respected this formidable foe (and we know a little about last minute comebacks) and 2) BG had the momentum.
Here's to a BGSU conference championship! I look forward to the chance to visit "your house" in 2010!!
Cheers!
