Did people give up, or did the other schools just start hitting the polls? The gap from first to second is growing while the gap from second to third has nearly disappeared.

I've been voting my limit every day. Doubt it would have been any of us on this board that have "given up" if any have.

Time for some reminders to some of my friends who are helping in the effort.

Have several friends that go to Alabama and a few that go to Arkansas. Talked with both of them the last couple days through emails.

Both of those schools get text messages sent to all student athletes and emails sent out reminding students and athletes to vote. My one friend is a student trainer for the Women's basketball team at Bama and she told me that they even tell students to vote and have posters up in the student union. That is at ALABAMA. This girl goes to Ole Miss!!! Just think of the publicity going on at OLE MISS.

As I said before, just like how BG markets it's athletic events it has failed to market this on campus.

As I mentioned before if only 1/4 of the student body would vote just ONCE per day she would receive 5000 votes. You cant tell me that a college student cant take 30 seconds to vote when they check their email. All about marketing and getting the word out.

I still have a few friends in grad school at BG and I aksed if they know who Nikki Harris is and they said NO, should we? Unless they come to this site or to BGSUFALCONS.COM they would have no idea who she is or what is going on.

WOW! A radical voting change!

Post by Class of 61 »

Just went online to vote this morning and found Nikki in...THIRD place, trailing by 10,000 votes or so! The young lady from Fla. State has jumped to #1, past the Ole Miss lass.

Someone has already said it, and I've mentioned it to some of the people on campus who work for the university..

It seems like BG WANTS to become "big time", but doesn't seem to know HOW... marketing this thing should've been comparatively easy... why couldn't student services (or whatever its title is) contacted ALL the MAC schools and got them to help out with this..it's more than just BG ...it's for the MAC too.

This seems in a way remarkably similar to the lack of BGSU band CD's available to the public...frankly, I'll take at least partial credit for the eventual issue of the PRIDE CD... I'd complained for YEARS about the lack of availability of CD's of the band..it wasn't until I'd run into an old classmate who happened to be on the alumni board...that we finally got, with the alumni financial backing... ONE CD. They give a new one out to the band kids every year, I know, and even sent ME a copy of the CD produced the year after PRIDE... but that's been it. Excuse was...and probably still is...that they couldn't "afford" to pay the royalties on the music contained on the CD's if they sold them to the public.

Until BG commits itself to a better full time "SELF PROMOTION" of ALL university activities, sports, music, drama etc. I'm afraid I'll never see this change, at least in my lifetime.

Nikki back in 2nd place....

Post by Falconboy »

But behind 1st by about 30,000 votes. :( Its probably a lost cause but I'll still vote. I wonder how good we're getting the word out to other Mac schools to vote for Nikki.

"They can advance to the championship round by either getting the most votes in her round OR getting the most votes in her conference."

Not finishing first doesn't necessarily mean anything.

As for it being "pitiful", do you realize the number of students (not to mention alumni and fans) of some of the schools Nikki's been hanging with for these 2 or 3 weeks!?!?! I think it was an awesome effort and show of school spirit for her to perform as well as she has in this vote.

Why does everything have to be so damn negative!?!?!

What I meant by pitiful was the lack of coordinated effort by the AD to get out the word around on campus on this thing the way other schools are doing. If it seems worthy of BCS AD's to get involved with a cheerleader contest on the internet , I don't see why ours can't get involved in some way as well.

I don't see how the AD can help. There's been stuff published all over newspapers around here. It's not his job or place to promote her. In fact, I really hope he's busy doing other athletic obligations we brought him here to take care of.

She has plenty of promotion around here and is doing great. I don't see you walking around campus passing out fliers or anything. Maybe after fall break you will, as it is the 2nd half of the semester then.

Can you do anything besides gripe? Seriously. All you do is point fingers at other people and never do anything yourself to change anything you complain about.

Can the athletic department at least put the voting with a link on the BSUS Falcons website again now that voting can be done? When they put the original story on he site, we couldn’t even vote yet. Would also be a good reminder to those who check the site.
