I find it highly amusing that the best defense left for the Brandon supporters to pull out is that we're just an average team so average play is acceptable.

I'm ready to run through a wall after that inspiring pep talk, guys.

There is a LOT of talent on this team....we should not be 5-5, 3-3. We've stunk it up a few times this year, no question.

The fact remains....win the last two and we play for the title....all I care about right now is beating Buffalo. BEAT THE BULLS.

We should not be 5-5...at all...that being said, USC shouldn't be 9-1, Florida shouldn't have a loss, so on and so forth...the fact of the matter is we came out flat in two games, EMU and Miami...you could argue the NIU game too...thats why the games are played, and we're fortunate enough to be in the position we're in with the crap games we've played...but now the team and coaching staff should be prepared...every week they're playing a single elimination playoff game...win and you're in...so go out there an win, beat the Bulls...If they lose either of these next two games no one to blame but themselves...and their season will end in Toledo regardless...Cheers and good luck fellas

Yup. I'm all for high standards and high expectations, but it seems that the bar has been raised so high that anything short of absolute perfection is now licence to make manic pleas for the coach to be fired. If that was the standard Ball State used, Brady Hoke would be a defensive line coach somewhere in the Midwest right now instead of preparing for an undefeated season.

Going into the year, BG has won more games with Brandon at the helm than anyone else in the MAC since he took over. We can rightly nitpick the screw-ups while at the same time keeping things in perspective and giving credit where credit is due.

One additional point about Urban's recruiting: there were plenty of misses as well as hits in the 01' and 02' classes, and his deceptive departure severely gutted the 03' class. If you're still apt to give Meyer all the credit, remember that Brandon didn't fly in from outer space in 2003. He was Meyer's assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and (from what I've heard) the primary recruiter for Omar Jacobs, Cole Magner and several other of our superstars.

If we don't have superstar talent it's because Brandon's not finding it. You cannot absolve a college coach from blame because they don't have playmakers. Besides that this team is far more talented than what they've played at times this year. They may not be as good as they looked at Pitt, but they should be a helluva lot better than they played against Miami & EMU.

Brandon has the most wins of coaches during his tenure in the MAC because his predecessor left his cupboard stocked pretty damn nicely. Unfortunately for him the past 4 years of his tenure have been disappointment after disappointment. The '07 season was the only one of the last 4 that we exceeded expectations and that was largely because '06 was so bad that we expected nothing. Even that season was ended with the worst loss in bowl game history.

Doesn't matter, this argument is tired and pointless. Those that are willing to step back and actually look at this staff realistically know that it's mediocre. Unfortunately one of the major problems with the BG fanbase is that we seem to embrace mediocrity. Until we're willing to take risks to get better, mediocrity is all we'll get.

Did we really play that well against Pitt though or did Pitt play that bad? I know when Pitt went up 14-0 I felt like we were another TD away from another game like the Tulsa one. For whatever reason it seemed like Pitt played not to lose after that. Then once they were losing it seemed like they were going through the motions. It was like they couldn't believe they were losing. That is just how I felt after that game. I was stoked that we won but still pretty skeptical. I will say that the tackling in that game was the best I have seen by since 2001. That was all that I was impressed by after that game.

I am not excusing anything from the coaches, just looking at that game from different perspective. This team should be coasting through the MAC East. I am not one of those people who thinks we should be running the table, but a couple of the losses we have had this year cannot be overlooked because they were ugly.

The posts in this thread supporting GB prove your point perfectly.

1) The most wins in the MAC since 2003 is not 'mediocre.'

2) Brady Hoke would be selling patio furniture right now based on his record at Ball State going into this year by the standard of the win-every-game-or-you-suck crowd.

3) 10 recruits from 01' and 02' never saw the field, and our fearless leader didn't exactly do much for the proverbial cupboard in 2003 by leaving a handful of weeks before National Signing Day, preventing Ryne Robinson and many others from ever finding a place on the shelf.

Luckily, the people who are actually paid to make this decision made it last year and made the right choice.

Care to retract that one joe? Or are you still shell-shocked from GB's slap to all of our faces in the post game press conference?

Joe, your Kung-fu is weak.

People like you will ride stats to hell so long as it puts you one game over .500.

The coaches are pathetic, top to bottom. And this team could be great, the talent is there in numbers enough to matter. That they are not remains an indictment of the people being paid to run the program.

This wasn't BGSU losing a close game, this was a weak Falcon squad proving to be a speed bump on the road of a truly well coached team winning a title. You can say this was BGSU losing the game it should have won, and normally I might agree. But given the track record the team is developing, what this was the new norm. The Falcons have become just another very winnable game for anybody we play, at home or away. The road to MAC titles goes through BG. Through DLP Stadium. Into the Speedway for a drink and fuel. Up the road, and ends at another school's trophy case.
