It seems to me that the hiring of Tim Beckman by Toldeo REALLY put the pressure on GC to make a good hire, because Beckman was the best known and safest hire for BG from my point of view. Not that we don't have others, but the collar has to be tight with this hire by UT. I have read everything I can find about Spack, and I really am not sold on him as our head coach, but............................
I can also see Beckman raiding our current staff of some of the most desireable asst coaches, which would hurt for the immediate future. There are definitely a couple that we should try and keep on staff, in my opinion.

I agree with Factman. From what I've read and heard about Spack, I don't think it would be the best choice at this time.

And we should do all we can to keep a couple of the current assistants....looks like Campbell is pretty much on his way to WY, though.

I think every effort should be made to retain Coach Ward. He's been at BGSU in a couple different roles (coach, strength coach) since 1992. I thought he did a pretty decent job with the defense this year...minus the late game collapses (EMU, MU, Buffalo). He's a true pro and seems to really care about the players.

I agree, I mean he's been here forever and knows the in's and out's of BGSU, and he really does care about his players. My only worry is that it almost seems like they want a completely clean slate from the Brandon Era? :(

Don't know if it will happen, but I've been told that Beckman and Ward are good friends and that Beckman is going to ask Ward to be his DC at Toledo.

If BG doesn't take Eberflus he is going to still become a head coach either this year or next year, and I'm telling you he is going to be a very good head coach. BG would be wise to give Eberflus a serious look.

I have heard Beckman wants both Campbell and Ward at Toledo.

I know where he can get an offensive coordinator for cheap ;)

Didn't Campbell just take a job at Wyoming. I'm guessing that Wyoming pays a lot better than a MAC school can pay an assistant.

Brock Spack has been named HC at Illinois State.

So from the early rumor mill we have...

Beckman ending up at UT (not HC material)
Spack at ISU (Not right for us)
Mullen at Miss. State. (although we didn't realize it at the time probably wouldn't have landed him if we went after him)
and
Clawson who is juuuust right for us!

to use a Goldilocks and the 3 Bears theme.
