Hello Falcon fans!
Thought I'd jump on in and get a little early dialogue going about our game since it's the next one on the schedule. As of right now, I'm planning on making the trip up to Bowling Green. It's a twelve hour drive from my home, but I've made the drive once before and I know that your football stadium is just off I-75 and as a result is easy to get to.
Troy will return a lot of our playmakers for the 2009 season and we'll also have Josh Jarboe the wide receiver transfer from Oklahoma who had to sit out this fall. Too bad that we lost the New Orleans Bowl to USM, but hopefully that game will serve to motivate our guys to get back to New Orleans next December. We should be favored to win the Sun Belt Conference by most sources.
It appears that BGSU has hired a really capable head coach. This should be an interesting game to begin the season.

I just want to thank another FBS program for actually coming to Bowling Green for a non-conference game. It honestly seems like an event on its own. Since Missouri visited in 2002, exactly 3 FBS teams outside the MAC have visited BG, and one was Temple before they were in the league and incredibly putrid in 2005 and Western Kentucky in 2007 in their first FBS year, still in the "transition phase." So props to Minnesota last season and Troy next year.
Troy is certainly a championship program so it should be a great way to start the '09 season.

Troy has the same problem of scheduling non-conference home games against other FBS schools. We've played Marshall, UAB, Missouri, and Oklahoma State at home since 2003, but so far that's been it. We had a home game scheduled against Iowa State in 2005, but when we beat Missouri in 2004, ISU bought out of their contract to come to Troy. UAB is coming back to Troy next fall.
BGSU is coming to Troy in 2010.
