The also identically unrelated fact that my caps lock button works.

The shift buttons are here and here, please make a note of it.

As I said when it was first mentioned that he was a high caliber wrestler: There is NOTHING I'd rather see my DL guys doing in the offseason than wrestling. To be a state champion in a heavy weight division in a state with as good a wrestling pedigree as PA? WOW!

One of the most important, and often overlooked, aspects of DL play is using their hands. To swat away the arms of OL, to bat passes, to force fumbles, to get around blocks, etc. Give me a slightly lesser talented DL that knows how to use his hands over the athletic freak that is clueless anyday. And guess what wrestlers do? They use their hands and they understand leverage...especially state champion caliber wrestlers.

It may sound insignificant but if you build a DL of state champion heavyweight wrestlers you'll have a damn good unit, IMO.

Thanks, Hammb, your response made sense and I totally agree with you. I'd have been more excited, however, if he had been a State Sprint champion. Motion on the BG team, whether on defense or offense, always seems like it's happening in a jar of molasses. The team is slow and it's probably their biggest weakness. When I look at Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas T. etc. ---- the one thing they all have in common is near blinding speed at all levels. It always makes a difference and I'm sure the new coach understands that. -----------

You think speed is more important in a d-lineman than excellent leverage and hands?

Oh quit nit-pickin Mr. Jacobs! Quickness of hands, quickness of feet ---- all are important in football. Speed in general makes a huge difference, as does mass, strength, reaction-time, etc. It all plays a huge role in football. Wrestlers always make great football players --- particularly along the line. So do, however, shot-putters. In fact, about 84 per cent of the blue chippers that take on Div I scholarships in football were track stars in high school. There shouldn't be any arguments about this unless somebody just wants to nit-pick. ---

I'm not going to discount the need for speed. I also agree that we have been lacking in the speed department in year's past. Still, along the DL I think a wrestling background is probably more helpful than a track background.

That said, I'd love to hear that our incoming DBs, WRs, and RBs were winning state titles in track!

NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, is more important in life, than a track background!

Nothing is more important than a hand timed 40 yard dash when it comes to evaluating talent. It is the surest most accurate predictor of football speed and ability!

Wow...those are some great mid-major programs to put our speed up against! Such reality there.

Your judgment regarding the 40 yd time trial,Mr. Flipper, carries a lot of truth. However, and unfortunately, most of those 40 yd posted times are bold face lies, i.e., fabrications. When I see all of these recruits cominging in with 4.4, 4.5. 4.6 times listed I just have to laugh. When I see a prospective lineman being recruited -- 6'6" , 275 lbs with a 4.9 time listed I laugh all the harder. When you get down into the 4.4, 4.5, 4.6 times y ou're looking at State Sprint Champions. So if an a athlete really makes the grade at BG with a 4.4 40 -- I'd say, yep, you got yourself a real athlete.
