That's a good one.

Thanks Flip for the nit picking. I realize it says "can." I also think Pam Anderson's double D thirtyeights "could" be real. If it wasn't a subject with some validity--not merely potential validity--why was it even a topic of discussion? If it's not relevant, why bring it up? The interview was written around an interview with Brandon, one can assume the subject came up. And I didn't read anything that stated--or implied--that the situation did anything to "help" recruiting. When Gary Blackney did the same thing--began interviewing other schools after a couple good years--it sure didn't "help" his recruiting thereafter.
It came up because anyone could recognize the possiblity. It's the proverbial 800 lb gorilla in the corner of the room. A competent interviewer would almost HAVE to broach the subject.
That still doesn't mean that the possibility has become reality.
So far as it helping recruiting...does something have to "help" to not "hurt"?

It doesn't mean it hasn't either. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Unfortunately there is a lot of history here to go on, almost all of it bad.[/quote]

It's still definitely a lateral move, at best. But I thought that was worth noting.
Hmmm, I didn't realize that. I guess NMSU could still be a possibilty then. Given the location, I wouldn't be surprised if Brandon at least considered that one. I be disappointed, but not surprised.

Seriously, New Mexico State is a lateral move. They may pay a bit more, or they may not. Thing is, no one has ever been able to win there.
Don't overrate the WAC. Fresno State and Boise State are good midmajor programs. Hawaii has its moments. Mostly, though, it is the old Big West.
