The north endzone of the GB has had temporary seating behind it in the past (how we crammed in 36,000 or whatever for NAvy) but as far as I know there are no plans to add seats there. I'm sure someone designed the renovations around potential expansion and that would be one area of possibility but it would be limited as there's very little depth. I suppose you could build a second deck back over the Larimer somehow but that seems pretty crazy.
Hey, there are other similarities that no one picked up on:
1. The grass looks to be green
2. The field appears to be 100 yards long with a 10 yard end zone at each end
3. Day-glo yellow uprights are sticking out of the ground at teh back of the end zone
4. No one is in the stands.

IMO, when Akron's stadium is finished, I think it's going to be the top stadium in the MAC. For the past few years, I have felt Western Michigan had the top facility in the conference. I got a complete tour of WMU's last summer and was very impressed with the "entire" facility. But I think it'll be bumped from that spot this year.

Geez Globe.... it takes a 7-10 minute walk to get to the Doyt (obviously less to the ice arena and especially AA)... guess BG kids aren't made of the "same stuff" as when I had to walk "uphill" to classes BOTH ways!

The "heart of campus" may not be exactly correct. Campus is on one side of it, and on the other are places that I'm guessing you wouldn't want to venture after dusk.

Yeah, but in '61 the stadium WAS in the heart of the campus.
My question is, do we have ANY hope of keeping up with the current facility arms-race in the MAC?? The Stroh will help, but man, it just seems like every school is going hog wild lately.
It comes and goes... there are only so many facilities that you need.. and once they are all replaced you will have a dead period for 50 years... unless that is you build a crappy facility and it needs to be overhauled several times ie. New Comisky Park in Chicago.

On the other hand how many years did it take for the rest of the MAC to come up with the luxury seating that we have had since the Doyt was completed in 1966 (I believe)?
It's about time they caught up!
For those old enough to remember could you correct me if there was a better MAC facility in 1966? If not what year did someone else finally build one better than the Doyt?
