NCAA Coverage

Post by CSUFalcon »

I'm sick and tired of every season that we win an opening game, ESPN and all the other BCS sports broadcasting fails to show how well BGSU does. I thought that Troy was a very good competitor and we just outplayed them. The SC vs. NCState game had nothing on what BGSU did against Troy. Maybe it's because I'm in Colorado but it doesn't matter, ESPN and all the other ESPN's are national. What makes it worse than anything is that the game was played on a Thursday where 5 games were played.

That irked me too. Couldn't get to the game, and got home during the second half of the USC-NCSt. game. Not one ticker on BG-Troy! A cut to a bit of the Ball State-N. Texas game before Oregon-Boise started, but still no ticker on the BG game until well into the late second game. Even then, when I thought I saw it, I had to wait thorough several rounds of NCAAF before it came up again. ESPN, like the media in general, is fixated on the mythical Top 25, and was more concerned with running Saturday's "top" schedule than providing current scores.

Unfortunately, it takes a 4-0 or 5-0 start for conferences like the MAC to get any attention. It's been like that for a long time. What's great though is that if BG and Boise head into their matchup as undefeateds, you could definitely see ESPN showing up for College Gameday...then again, I haven't looked at the rest of the schedule for that day so there could be some monster OOC games.

Just looked at the schedule, and there are a few that could supplant us just based on name recognition. But the one that most jumped out was Purdue/Notre Dame. Of course, if we are are talking BG and Boise both being undefeated, there is definitely a chance.

If Purdue loses to Oregon and ND to Michigan/State

Also, that week there are a few top25 v top25 games, atleast by preseason rankings;

No. 12 California at No. 16 Oregon
No. 22 Iowa at No. 9 Penn State
No. 21 North Carolina at No. 15 Georgia Tech

The Penn St. game is in the evening, so most likely not that, the Cal/Oregon game is on ABC and at 3:30, so I would suppose that to be the best canidate, however, if Oregon's season spirals more out of control, you never know.

Let's just hope BGSU wins one game at a time. I would think everything else will work itself out
