Major props from an MU fan
Hey, I know you guys may not be in the mood to hear this from a Mizzou guy, but I just wanted to say well done tonight. You guys played a hell of a game, and really confused the heck out of our offense for a good while tonight. My gosh you guys have some good athletes in that secondary! I really liked Geter as well...very nice back. Mizzou is a young team, and seemed to really have some jitters out there playing in front of such a huge revved up crowd, but no excuses. You guys tooked the fight to them and forced them to respond.
Anyway, I just wanted to say good game...y'all were a worthy foe tonight. Best of luck to you guys down the road this year...I hope you win the MAC and we get to see you playing sometime during bowl season!

Thank you. I would be lying if I said I wasnt disappointed, but there is no shame in the way we played. You guys have a good team.Good luck the rest of the way.

Thanks for stopping by. I just saw an interesting stat where Mizzou has won 21 out of 23 home games. The only losses were Okie State in aught-eight and Okie U in aught-six.
That's impressive home field advantage.
Good luck the rest of the way, Tigers.

Definitely no shame. Mizzou is going to be a good team this year, I really believe. They completely dismantled Illinois last week. One thing I do know...you guys have a hell of a lot better coaching staff than The Fighting Zooksters of Illinois! (Better Quarterback too)

Not only that...aside from the two losses you mentioned, in the last 3 seasons Mizzou's average margin of victory at home has been 26.5 points. Nobody came closer than within 14 points of them (twice, in 07). 6 times they won by over 40 points. 13 of their 17 games were won by more than 3 TDs.
So for you guys to play us within 1 touchdown is a hell of a feat. That's:
-28 points closer than the last game Nebraska played here.
-51 points closer than the last game Colorado played here.
-24 points closer than the last game Texas Tech played here.
-20 points closer than the last game Ole Miss played here.
-20 points closer than the last game kansas played here (in Columbia).
Sorry, I'm not saying all this to brag or anything...that was a more experienced team the last couple of years, but there's still a lot of talent in Columbia. I just really meant to come here to say I was legitimately impressed by your squad, and to point out you guys gave us a wayyyy tougher game than any of those other "powers" listed above did.
Again, well done. Good luck the rest of the way.

Thanks...I'm a proud alum tonight with the effort, you guys used your strengths down the stretch and it ensured a victory. We wish you guys the best of luck this year, certainly hope you turn some heads this year in the Big 12. Congrats.brignatious wrote:Hey, I know you guys may not be in the mood to hear this from a Mizzou guy, but I just wanted to say well done tonight. Bittersweet loss for me. I am a BG and a Mizzou Alum. Bachelors from BG in 07 and Masters from Mizzou in 09, but was rooting hard for the Falcons in this game. Definitely disappointed, but looks to be a good season ahead for both teams after this game.

I think the Boise St. game in a couple weeks looks a lot more interesting (and not just "exciting") now. Although the Broncos throttled Miami(OH) on the blue stuff today, we played them well last year and of course get them at home and at night this time around.jlozer8 wrote:Definitely disappointed, but looks to be a good season ahead for both teams after this game.

Wow, the Falcons battled hard in this one. I was impressed with Sheehan's pocket presence and overall awareness. I can't recall a mistake he made all day! Geter always got 2 extra yards with every carry because of falling forward, which was a surprise for a guy who was supposed to just be a speedster. You guys were definitely the better team in the first 3 quarters, but I guess they didn't have enough gas to finish it off against the athletic Mizzou Tigers. I loved watching this game and I hope we schedule more games with the MAC in the future!

Hope you're right!
Hey cool to see you were a trumpet player. I marched in college at (Southwest) Missouri State, drumline, then taught the line there and created a WGI ensemble as an undergrad. Also marched DCI at Blue Knights. Nice to talk to another marcher!

Actually marched WGI in high school my last 2 years as well. Now teaching band in a small town in Missouri. How long ago were you at Missouri State? I've met a few people from that school.

Congrats to the Tigers on the comeback win. I was feeling very good when BG was up 20-6 but we just couldn't hold that lead.
MuTiger91,
Now do you see why we were a confident bunch?? You were gonna BOMB us? I didn't think so.
Both teams played hard....it was a good game.

Re: Major props from an MU fan
I'm going to add my congratulations and thoughts to this thread, rather than starting another. I knew, and stated in the prediction thread, that most Mizzou fans were underestimating BGSU, I just didn't realize I was underestimating them, too. I predicted that the Falcons would score 17 and they went 20. Willie Geter is amazing! Here's a guy that's 5-7 167 (according to possibly inflated stats) carrying two or three of our linebackers 3 or 4 yards after contact OVER AND OVER AND OVER. That was the toughest earned 99 yard game I've ever witnessed.
The big surprise to me was the effectiveness of the Falcons defense for most of the game. Part of that was some yips by our young quarterback, but having orange helmets coming at you at full speed will give you the yips. He was having trouble finding open receivers because quite often they weren't open (though he overlooked many open receivers and I'm sure he and HCGP will be discussing that).
Great game. I was proud of the way the Tigers came back. I read on our board that this is our first come from behind victory since Brad Smith was quarterback, and that was about 4 years ago. Your team played the Tigers tougher in their house than anyone in several years (as brignatious pointed out). Both teams have a lot to be proud of this morning. Good luck the rest of the season. I would love for you guys to shut down the Boise State anointment that is currently going on in the media.

I was impressed with Bowling Green in all three phases of the game last night. I'll certainly be rooting for you all in the MAC.
