Pettigrew

Post by cowboyjoe »

Does anyone know for sure if Pettigrew will be red-shirting this year? I hope so because what a waste this year would be. Bullock is hardly getting any carries much less Pettirew.

I don't think Pettigrew can redshirt as he's played on Special teams this year.

All players want a chance to play right away. He currently plays special teams and when the coaches think it is right he will line up at RB. How is it a wasted year if he getting experience.

If a player is able to help improve a team his freshman year, why would you redshirt him? Even if it is on special teams, it is one of the most important parts of the game. Obviously the coaches dont have any better options right now and feel that he can help the team. What is so wasted about that?

Roger Williams is a solid returner but he needs a compliment back there. Ty Pronty was the obvious early choice but he's out for most of the season. Pettigrew is an amazing talent and has serious speed. He has this year to get his feet wet in actual game situations and likely play some RB as the season goes on. He'll get three more years as a RB and I think is likely to have a solid year at RB.

Remember ... he was on the two deep pre-season. Everybody knew he was NOT going to redshirt.

WTF are you talking about? We've played THREE GAMES!!! I was no math major, but by my calculations there's NINE games left to play this season...that's plenty of time for Pettigrew to have an impact...hell you were acting like Rice was the second coming of Barry Sanders..."Mr Home run from any point on the field" based on what, two games last year?

Even if he doesn't get a single carry or catch a single pass the rest of the way, playing on special teams gives him ample opportunity to help out the team. Having lived through the special teams debacle of 2006, a year that had us praying we'd just kick it out of bounds and take the spot rather than risk giving up another long return,t can we all agree that quality special teams play is a hugely important component ona winning football team?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
