The Minnesota Vikings have swapped backup centers again, waiving Kory Lichtensteiger and signing Jon Cooper from the practice squad.
Cooper made the final cut out of training camp, but was waived the next day when Lichtensteiger was signed after being dropped by the Denver Broncos. The undrafted rookie Cooper was then placed on the practice squad.

Re: Vikes waive Kory
Thats upsetting. I love to see former falcons play in the NFL but it seems almost all of them get cut, waived or sent to the practice squad. I hope Kory can get back soon.

He can play guard. The Steelers need any help on the o line they can get. I remember seeing his son in a Steelers jersey when he was at BG. I would love to see Kory in the Black and Gold.

If he can play guard the Browns are also in dire need of a RG.tiznow wrote:He can play guard. The Steelers need any help on the o line they can get. I remember seeing his son in a Steelers jersey when he was at BG. I would love to see Kory in the Black and Gold.

What to the NFL coaches/scouts see that we don't see? I always wonder about that when we see BG guys get cut. With some, it seems pretty obvious. Examples - Manger lacked "NFL speed," J5 lacked NFL size/arm, that sort of thing. But what about Kory is keeping him off an NFL roster. He appears to have all the tools and, as much as any layman can tell, has been serviceable when afforded the opportunity.

The Browns are in dire need of a lot of other positions as well. Including a coach who knows what the hell he is doing.hammb wrote:If he can play guard the Browns are also in dire need of a RG.tiznow wrote:He can play guard. Kory is not an overly physically gifted player. His arms are not ideal length, he doesn't have ideal strength, nor does he possess ideal athleticism. He's a crafty blocker, but he just doesn't do any one thing well enough to have a niche. Most teams will look for one type of interior OL. They either want the physical mauler that can drive forward but may be a liability in space, or they want the great athlete that's good in space but may get pushed around a bit. Kory was a jack of all trades, master of none, type guy. Not a good enough athlete to be a great blocker in space, and not strong enough to push people around.1987alum wrote:What to the NFL coaches/scouts see that we don't see? He's the type of guy that is a worthwhile backup, but he's not likely to ever be a long term starter. There will always be somebody else that has more potential than Kory.
Even with our success in the early part of the decade BG really hasn't produced many players that were ideal NFL talents. Personally, I think we've lagged even behind our conference brethren in athleticism for the past 10-15 years.
Re: Vikes waive Kory
As some of you may have seen, Kory was on the sidelines at yesterday's game. Seeing as I have known him since Jr. High, I figured I'd say hello and see how he was doing. He informed me that he has a tryout with the Browns this coming week. I personally would love to see him in the Orange and Brown again, I'm not a Browns fan, but Kory is a hell of an individual and hopefully will be able to get an offer out of it. The thing that worked against him from what he told me is the NFL rule that if you play in a certain number of games, you are no longer eligible for practice squad, therefore that coaching change in Denver really hurt him with his job.
I wish him nothing but the best and figured I would share this little bit of information that I had with the rest of you all.

Magner lacked speed, but would have made an excellent possession receiver, he caught balls, not much after the catch, but he caught everything thrown his way, or died trying. It was to bad that this was not a time for possession receivers.

Talking about magner, where is he now? Last I heard I thought he was playing in either canada or europe. I also know that Jacobs is playing for some team in south carolina in a minor league of some kind. I think as of now the most successful player right now who is still active is Suisham. I would love to see Kory become part of the Browns football team. Im not a fan at all of the browns in fact i was born to hate both the browns and steelers because my dad was always a hardcore bengals fan, but I just hope he can land a starting role somewhere and have a great and successful career in the NFL, which ever team that is with.
