Ahhhhhh....so I made my 9AM flight out of New Orleans and my flight arrived on time in Detroit but all flights to Northeast Ohio are off the board. The ironic thing is that I have to go to Toledo. I am waiting in the line of "lost souls" waiting to procure my bag and see if they can do something for me.
Looks like I might have to have my folks drive up from Toledo to rescue me and rebook my flight to Akron for Sunday and dig out my car then and mail my folks their Christmas gifts.
Yeah...this all sucks though, but you know what....
The Falcons won BiG...and that makes it all worth it. ::Grin::
Hope all the other Falcons made it home safely!

Still in New Orleans
Well I'm still at the airport in New Orleans. My flight to Charlotte was to go at 2:15 PM and the plane has not arrived yet. Of course Charlotte is only the first leg of the trip. I need to get to Columbus but if I have to I'll call a buddy in Charlotte and crash on his floor for the evening.
'87 and Noah are boarding their flight to Philly as I speak (they're about 90 minutes behind schedule). Well, maybe not. They just announced a ground delay of 30 minutes.
I think Noah has a girlfriend!

They were playing catch in the lounge.
DELAY?!?! Who cares? We won!!!! Think I'll go looking for a lounge where I can enjoy another victory cigar!

Made it home!
Well, at least to my folks home in Toledo that is....
My bag is...ummm...somewhere...I finally spoke with a straight talking NWA employee and she said they only had two people working the bags for the cancelled fights, so I was able to do the math on the likelyhood of retrieivng the bag for myself at that point. My dad came up and picked me up and brought me back here. Now I just have to figure out how to get back to Akron to unbury my car, get my bag, and drive back to home in Cleveland. Oh well....I have a few days to figure it out....and oh yeah....

Charlotte, North Carolinacigar
I'm in Charlotte, North Carolina now. Flight to Columbus is still listed as on-time. Sounds promising....
Had a nice little show in the Stock Car Cafe. Some lady had been stranded here since 9:30 this morning and found the bar. After calling the bartender numerous names that would even make a Rockette fan blush, she finally was escorted out of the bar by airport police sometime after Marshall screwed the pooch on their first punt.
Not much else happening in Charlotte right now.
I did enjoy another victory cigar!

Boy, you go out of state for a couple days and look what happens.
I got hung up in Atlanta for several hours, then got on standby to Cincinnati. Finally got to CVG, but had to sit on the tarmac for 2 hours while they tried to pull a plane out of our gate.
Drove home to Tiffin from Cinci; just got here.
The game was worth it.

Northwest was awful yesterday. My flight out of New Orleans to Memphis was two hours late.
I'm understanding of weather. But, man, they were understaffed... and unpleasant. I think part of our delay in New Orleans was that they didn't have enough people on the ground to board the flights quickly.
Then, my Memphis-to-Columbus flight sat on the ground for an hour, boarded, before we took off. I think we were waiting for stragglers making connections from other cities... but there is nothing worse than sitting in a plane on the ground. I wish they had just waited to board.

I second the understaffing and unpleasantness of their staff. I was told that they would "pick" my bag and it would come out on a carosel in about twenty minutes. Nearly two hours later it had not come out. I asked one of their people who was talking to people standing in the canceled flight line (which I had already stood in earlier for about forty minutes) and almost started yelling at me!Schadenfreude wrote:I'm understanding of weather. I stopped someone a little bit later and she told me that my bag would just end up at my final destination when the next flight left. She said they only had TWO people working with the bags from the canceled flights. I can't even fathom how many flights/bags that would be, but it was dozens.
Not a very pleasent experience at all....not enough staff and very unorganized.
Wow guys ... sorry to hear all these stories about your flights. It actually makes me glad I decided to drive it, althought that trip back definitely took a bit longer than the trip down. Let's just say you can tell people in Kentucky aren't used to getting a lot of snow or having to drive in it, that's for sure. The funny thing is, after driving through that mess on the way back, I told Michelle, "If BG is in the GMAC Bowl again, we're flying." Go figure! Aw well, we had a great time down there. I am so glad we went down.
