You do make a valid point with just one minor flaw. This is a game of inches and one play can make a difference. If you don't believe me, then check out the blocked field goal in the early stages of the game. Another contributing factor to our loss is; of course the bombed defensive play that was a huge factor in getting to the 2 point conversion. I'm stating facts and I love the hell out of my Falcons just like the next guy but if we can't face up to the fact that we have holes that needs correcting, then the problem will never be fixed. I know "The Claw" can see what I'm stating here and he will do everything in his power to change these flaws and it's in our "D". That was the only reason I stated what I did in this forum. I will admit that the truth sometimes will come across as unclassy, but at least someone here is passionate about their other favorite team. I shouldn't be degraded for that passion! Maybe there should be more of that passion going around in our fan base to show our love for the team even though some words will hurt.
Sorry if I offended any Brown and Orange fans! I'll stay on the sidelines.
Sure the D has flaws. We've known that since the summer. But to call them "lazy" is just asinine.

I am with you for the most part, but we have been plagued by terrible coverage and tackling for most of the past decade, save maybe 2001 and 2003. It's nothing new.

It wasn't that you had valid or non-valid points about our defensive play that ticked people off. It was calling the players "lazy, non-caring slow azz athletes" that pissed people off. Lazy and non-caring? That is crap and THAT is what got people ticked off.

Hey drunken,
You just keep drinking and I'll go do something more constructive. see you next year when you have a better attitude and when we have 10 wins!
First off I am sober and in a great state of mind...
Secondly, I don't like the way you were talking about OUR Falcons. Those men fought their azzes off trying to win that game and were a bit screwed by the group of officials that should have clearly seen that the ball skidded across the blue turf before #22 made his first catch of the game. Should they have stopped it? Yes. But there is no need for you to rip on the men that have fought since September to be in the position to win a bowl game. These are OUR Falcons and I hope you'll never talk about them, again, the way you did this evening.

It's too bad that we lost the game that way, but some of the young DBs are going to be good in time.
+1. Shane Steffy's first start was 2007 at Minnesota and he was abysmal. He had multiple false start and holding penalties all at the worst possible times and it seemed like this new offensive lineman could cost us the game. Instead, Brandon and the coaching staff stuck with him and let him grow with game experience. He improved so much from then to the end of the 2007 and up to now. He had an outstanding season this year, but even our most solid offensive lineman and beloved senior was once a mistake-prone young player.
Spencer's experience this year is going to pay off. He is going to be a stud with time and showed moments of brilliance this year.

Tyler and Freddie the rest of teh offense should be the most ticked. They put in all that work to get us back up and on top with 30 seconds left and we cant hold a team 80 yards with 30 seconds to go...are you kidding me?!
Good Luck Seniors, Thanks for everything you have meant to the University, especially Tylaer and Freddie! Congrats to Freddie on everything he accomplished this year.
I think number 21 was Brandon McDonald in disguise!!!! LOL
You know the interesting thing here is that everyone is really correct I will say that even the coaching staff has to take some responsibility.
1. Cornerbacks were horrible!!!!(No dispute; to say they didn’t try is another thing; although if you have been following BG for the last 10 years you could have seen the last drive coming)
2. I think the coaches could be to blame as well; this soft zone/prevent at the end of the game has never worked and probably never will.
3. Special Teams (I think that this is a left over from Brandon ignoring special teams) just lazy special teams play... I just don’t think this aspect of the game has been stressed enough
4. One thing about Clawson that is starting to get annoying is that we kill teams between the 20's with the spread and then we put in two TE and become conservative
(Just checkout the redzone stats)
And finally... The reason MAC coaches run the spread is because it is the only way that the MAC will compete... It is simply a mismatch if you try and play great D and smash mouth football against anyone other then the MAC; look I am not saying the D cant improve...what I am saying is that if anyone thinks that we will ever have an outstanding D and compete with BCS schools your just crazy... if we try that we are just the big ten with less size (check the MAC of the late 80's early 90's)... and yes TCU is winning with D however go look at the roster and compare its not close (in size and then stats of their athletes).... BSU worked with the spread and outscored teams for years and then got recruits because athletes want to play in that fun offense and then when they came to campus they turned them into corner and safeties.
This is why I was a little concerned when Clawson came in and talked about balance and running the ball more… I believe in balance but when you play in a league like the MAC you must pass to setup the run not run to set up the pass.
And please don’t say where did that get Brandon??… it worked for him for a while; he lost his player and could control them his schemes were fairly successful.
I'm proud of the them. Ripping on certain players isn't going to accomplish anything, I'm sure those players are well aware of the mistakes they made. This is what I'm starting to hate about college sports, the fans treat these players like they're professional athletes. It was an exciting game, and as the old cliche goes, someone had to win and someone had to lose. Does it suck that BG lost? Of course. But there were many teams sitting at home watching BG play yesterday, wishing they had the chance to play a 13th game.
Be happy for the team, the coaches and the fans. We got to see possibly one of the greatest single season performances by a BG player ever in what Freddie did this year, and the team competed in every game this year. Isn't that all you should ask for as a fan?
This game will serve as good motivation for next season.
