Tuesday: First Day Of Practice

Post by 1987alum »

For the 6 & 7 year-old flag football Falcons of Lower Makefield, that is!

Uniforms are still in question, but we've put in our request for orange and the kids will be learning Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba on DAY ONE!

Yes indeed, it's FOOTBALL season!

Never too early to start recruiting.

Jake went to flag football for one day but he isn't ready to play just yet (he's 5).

Josh has made it thru almost all of the preseason drills. Last night he said he wanted to quit...but changed his mind after we got home. It's been tough for him and I would never push him to do something he didn't want to do.
He has been getting in shape and struggles a bit more than the others but man can he hit!! He will be on the O line to start so we'll see what happens.

GO FALCONS!!!

Freak:

I applaud your approach. Too many parents try to shove it down their kids' throats. Your boys will find their own way.

Personally, I hope they stick it out. After all, I'm counting on you to help me with the Parents Club in about 12 years.

Thanks 87! I have to admit my heart kinda sank when he first said he wanted to quit. He played in the scrimmage tonight and seemed to be having fun again. I just want him to make sure he wants to play.

Plans for the Parent Tent are still on course!

THE REPORT FROM DAY 1

Post by 1987alum »

Freak: That's the toughest part of parenting, I think - letting them find their own way. Glad he's back in the fold!

Our squad had our first practice last night. The kids are awesome. Most of them don't know a quarterback from a thumbtack, but they sure want to play. We worked on AZZ at the end of practice. I told them to do it as loud as they could, so that helped make it a big hit.

Maybe someday we will see him taking Mruczkowski's place up front :D If you say he can hit though, I'd rather see him on the D-line derailing quaterbacks...lol. If he ever starts to doubt playing again, let him know how many fans from ay-ziggy-zoomba.com and the rest of the BGSU community he'd have cheering for him. Maybe that would change his mind!
