I guarantee Brian from marketing will not do that at any basketball games this year.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:Brian from marketing does the same thing at basketball games, forced cheers should be a no noMarkL wrote:What was worse, though, was that she had to announce "let's do the BG SU cheer." Crowd pumping cheers aren't announced ... they just happen. If she had just stepped out and yelled "BG!" I bet the crowd would have responded with "SU!" and there, you've got the attention and energy of the crowd.

I've been looking for emoticons to determine if this thread is a joke or is meant to be seriously.....

Sorry, no joke. If I wanted to be subjected to an LRAD I would join the Sea Shepherds.

if the music is that big of a factor then get the heck over it. you want to blame someone...blame the players...they choose the music that is played during kickoffs and pregame and big situations, if thats your biggest factor then im sorry your argument is worthless.....second of all.....this is bg, yes we have issues with the microphone, but its not like were at ohio state.....as far as fan support yes its going to be tough to convince students who arent die hard bg fans to come to the games when were putting a losing team on the field in cold weather....people here just dont care. there are some things we could do different but if the reasons your stating for not coming to games just makes me believe that you have as much passion in this program as all the students who dont come.

Okay, pregame makes some sense and I don't have any issue with that. I was talking about the songs played during stoppages. And if the players are taking time to pick these songs while managing to practice, travel, and attend classes then we have a serious problem!sum1udontknow wrote:you want to blame someone...blame the players...they choose the music that is played during kickoffs and pregame and big situations, if thats your biggest factor then im sorry your argument is worthless
And my issue is mainly with the volume. And I can't imagine blaring music when the coaches are trying to explain a key play in a huddle is all that smart.
Bottom line, the music isn't doing anything to pump up the crowd and apparently isn't doing all that much for the players either.
Just turn it down, fix the crackling and screeching issues THAT HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM FOR YEARS, and try a little variety once in awhile. And oh yeah, can the screaming wench!

If the players "need" the music during during pregame, kickoffs and big situations then I believe we have identified Issue #1 with the on-field results.sum1udontknow wrote:if the music is that big of a factor then get the heck over it. you want to blame someone...blame the players...they choose the music that is played during kickoffs and pregame and big situations, if thats your biggest factor then im sorry your argument is worthless.....second of all.....this is bg, yes we have issues with the microphone, but its not like were at ohio state.....as far as fan support yes its going to be tough to convince students who arent die hard bg fans to come to the games when were putting a losing team on the field in cold weather....people here just dont care. there are some things we could do different but if the reasons your stating for not coming to games just makes me believe that you have as much passion in this program as all the students who dont come.
If an indivdual complains as to the game-day atmosphere, then that means they have spent a considerable amount of time in the stadium, on numerous Saturdays and is thereby committed to the program. To label the opinion of one of these fans as "worthless" is disrespectful and counter-productive to this message board. There's no greater commitment than re-arranging a work schedule to attend a game, driving 2 hours before/after, or flying to an away game dropping a few hundered on hotel and stub-hub tix. Many if not all on this Board have done/are doing these very things week-in and week-out. Stating we don't care is a careless choice of words.
With that said, there is more to the game-day atmosphere than the play on the field. If "we" were undefeated, the music would still aggravate me. If I went to Ruths' Chris and they served my steak on a trash can lid, it would detract from my dinner. The music and other artificial stimuli is not needed. The crowd stimulates itself. If they product on the field cannot get butts out of the seats, then Jay-Z won't either.

Unfortunately Brian from Marketing won't listen to me and play any George Strait or George Jones. I've tried, but he just won't listen.Warthog wrote: I'm going to say that the students like the hip-hop music. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean no one else does. I do have to give him some credit though, because if you have listened to the pre-game music, you will hear Kenny Chesney's "The Boys of Fall". So not all is lost.
But put out some George Strait, then to George Jones, a little bit of Conway Twitty, over to some Hank Williams. That would be sweet!

Yet another reason for RWT to not attend.
Re: Why I won't go to another game at home this year
Good grief.
Whatever happened to the days when the BAND was actually responsible for playing music during stoppages to get the crowd excited, and the cheerleaders (not someone over a PA system) led the cheering?
I think a lot of this stuff gets over analyzed by some marketing wonk, someplace, instead of just going with what's tried and true -- and has been a staple and a TRADITION for years.
I have nothing against hip hop, rock or country western music -- but NONE of it should be piped through a PA system at a college football game.
