His team is the Class AAA District III champions, not the state champions. Bishop McDevitt plays in the state semi-final game this weekend. The championship game is the following weekend.

Class AAAA is for the largest high schools.

My bad. I reread it and I glanced right over the fact it said district. Pretty bad that they did not mention who they play or who they might play next in the article, that must be where my miscue came from. Thanks for the heads up. Anyone interested in traveling to Pennsylvania to watch a hs championship game?

Halftime in tonights game. Johnson of Bishop McDevitt 14, Allentown Central Catholic 14. Matt just missed a go ahead 40+ yard touchdown pass in the closing seconds of the first half. Matt was sacked twice in the 2nd quarter. I missed the first quarter when McDevitt scored their points.

This game is for the Class AAA Championship.

Matt runs 9 yards for a touchdown to tie the score at 21 after three quarters. He is 15 for 25 for 196 yards, 1 passing TD and no interceptions. 5th all time in PA history for passing yards at over 7900 yards.

Matt's team, Bishop McDevitt took the lead 27 -21. The extra point try failed mostly due to a bad snap. Allentown CC then went 85 yds on 4 plays to take the lead 28-27 with 2:09 to play, and that was the final score. Sadly, Matt did not win the state championship.

Matt's family have a lot to be thankfull for, on and off the field.
