Mike Faraghelli installed a pretty complicated offense here in the early 90's and White ran it to perfection.

Siborg...didn't Palsgrove lead the Miami miracle in 1985? I totally missed that one because I left at half time to get hammskied...it was my birthday...

Kinda agree that Omar wasn't alwasy the best leader. That first Boise State game comes to mind. The defense was getting trucked out there and needed some time to get it together. Omar could have moved the chains with a few runs...he had some wide open lanes..but he seemed bent on proving he could through into defense that was dropping eight...

True Dat. White was a very solid QB. How about Rich Dackin in the late 80's? Even though the BG teams never lived up to their potential under Moe Ankney, Dackin put up some pretty BiG numbers at times.

Flipper,
I don't remember. I graduated December of 84 and didn't follow much for a while.

Yep, Dackin was throwing to Ron Heard and Reggie Thornton who were both drafted in the NFL. Those teams under Moe did have talent. Blackney showed that when he won the MAC and 2 straight bowl games.

Heard had a really good training camp with the Steelers. I thought he was going to make it and then he got hurt and never played again.

I had some "friends of friends" that were related to Ronnie Heard...they were really excited about his future when he went to camp. Shame how that worked out....

I remember the late, great Myron Cope raving about Heard one night on his radio show from training camp.

I thought it was going to be a good sign. Myron always picked at a late round draft pick or free agent and touted him. When Myron touted someone he would go a little overboard. Heard was his player that year.

Nope, Palsgrove was gone by that time. Credit goes to Rick Nieman for that slice of Falcon history.

The naked bootleg he ran is still one of the greatest football plays I ever witnessed.

i'm very surprised Omar Jacobs isn't in the NFL.

i was excited to see him play when our teams played. the bronco's defense scheme really shined that particular day, but i watched quite a few falcon games before and after the boise/BGSU game, and Omar always seemed calm and accurate.

i recall being blown away by Omar's stats one year... something like 40 touchdowns and 4 interceptions? i thought i'd never see anything like that until Kellen Moore had a similar season recently. impressive stuff.

i wonder why he hasn't had more chances with the NFL?

He was drafted by Pittsburgh. He had trouble learning the playbook. I think he went to KC after that, not sure. I would have liked to seen him in the CFL, but he was in a lower level indoor league.

Omar Jacobs did NOT have the mental capacity to play QB at the NFL level. Heck, even at BG he was the first time that I remember seeing our QB looking to the sidelines to get their audibles called for him.

I remember discussing in Omar in draft forums and talked with somebody that said they tutored him while at BGSU...and he wasn't the brightest bulb.

He had all the physical tools. Big, good runner if he felt like it, strong enough arm, and DEADLY accurate to anywhere on the field. I seem to recall he was even reasonably accurate when on the move, if I'm remembering right. He just couldn't grasp an NFL playbook. That, and I think he really struggled in the transition to taking snaps under center.

From what I heard, when Omar looked to the sidelines he was getting the play called at least as often as the audible...

He also had somewhat of a sidearm pass that the NFL wasn't crazy about if I recall.

Tyler Sheehan and Cincinnati, 9-0, will host J5 and Marion, 8-1 Sat night at the Cincinnati Gardens. The Freaklings and I are heading down to tailgate with the Sheehan clan before the game. Marion's only loss this year was 50-44 to Cincinnati. Cannot wait to see J5 and Tyler light it up!!! This game will be for the CIFL Regular Season Title...

The next day we are gonna stop by and visit Spart43!! Just like old times at the Doyt!!
