"kicking game lacks consistency"....in other news, water is wet.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

geez, is the sentinel-tribune always so upbeat?

based on that content, i gather that the offense wasn't good, the defense will be inexperienced, and the kicking game aspires to mediocrity. what about the positives?

hyperbolically speaking, birdman is more optimistic than that paper.

Given what we watched last year it's perfectly understandable why any observer would be pessimistic about this team. We were pretty well crap in every facet of football. It's a miracle we put our jerseys on rightside out last year.

The offense has potential, IMO. They should take a step forward with an additional year in Clawson's system. The defense and kicking game have been pretty bad here since, what, 2001? Hopefully they'll improve, but I gave up being optimistic about those facets of BG football long ago.

All I really want to see this year is some improvement...especially offensively. Winning 5-6 games is probably a fair goal/wish for this group. Another 2-3 win season and I'll be ready to see a change at HC (which won't happen until after the 2012 season at the earliest).

I really hope this is the year Jerry Phillips finally emerges. He's got a monster leg. I hope and expect he'll be handling kickoffs. I expect it will be Tate placekicking, Schmiedebusch punting, and Phillips on kickoffs. I don't think I've ever seen each handled by its own man. It might not be a bad plan this year in order to let each guy devote as much practice time as possible to one specialty instead of stretching each guy so thin in practice.
