OL-Derrick Markay 8(32)
C-John Mazur 6(24)
OL-Chip Robinson (56)
DL-Devon Parks 5(17)

DB-Jelani Jordan 11(41)

I like my team other than I am a little weak in the Offensive Line Position compared to others. They were are all solid 3-4 year starters but none of them jump out at you. In my opinion I have the best player and leader at quarterback. I still think Cole Magner had an overall better career than Charles Sharon or Freddie Barnes. He brought versatility like no other player here I can remember other than Anthony Turner. Look up what Cole did in big games sometime, I use to joke that he should have been second team all big ten in 2003. Robert Redd was a stud for four years and caught a ton of passes before the spread offense came to BG. BJ Lane played behind Pope for most of his career unfortunately. If he hadn't I think he would have put up numbers somewhat close to him. I am perfectly fine with Josh Harris and BJ Lane in the backfield and in my opinion 2 of the top 5 receivers we have had here.

Defensively I took Khary Campbell first because as far as I know he is the only defensive BGSU player to spend a significant amount of time in the NFL. Most probably don't remember but Alex Glantzis was a really good defensive lineman and Devon Parks made an impact immediately in his Freshman season. My defensive backfield is speedy and ball hawking. We're not going shut anyone out but then again who is? And I just always loved Teddy Piepkow. He can play on any team of mine.
I can't argue against a team that has Pope, Barnes and Sharon no matter who the QB is. I'm no Sheehan fan but let's be honest he got it done with far less.

How crazy is it that we had a team that had Magner, Sharon, Sanders, Hawkins, Jarrett, McGrady, Pope, Lane, Harris and I'm probably forgetting someone else.

I have never thought Jacobs was anywhere near Harris overall. His numbers in 2004 were eye dropping but he had Sharon, Magner, Pope/Lane, and Sanders all on the field at the same time!

...I always liked Lane. Ended up with 1700 career rushing yards, 46 receptions and nearly 1000 kickoff return yards. Alls had 1500 carreer yards 28 receptions and about the same amount of kickoff return yards.

[quote="kdog27Don't you remember Sahm had that 63 yard run against Kansas?

Of course I think he fumbled but whatever. :)[/quote]

I don't remember whether he fumbled but I know that he was tackled at the 2 yard line. I was out there for the game and watching him run 65 yards in just a shade under 90 minutes was in the top 5 memorable plays of the 2000's for me.

I was going to say that I would flip a coin between Sahm and Sheehan. Looking at the stats, they had virtually the same comp percentages and yards per attempt in their final season of significant play (Sahm as a Jr., Sheehan as a Sr.). Sahm threw more picks in many fewer attempts and much fewer TDs because J5 was in there when we got close. Sahm had that 2001 team at 5-3 before Harris got the final 3 starts and played great at OU, NW, and Toledo. He put up huge numbers with Redd that year at Marshall. The guy was a solid QB, but Harris was bound to take over at some point and did during that 3 week stretch in 2001.

I agree with you.

Going into this, however, I thought my opinion would be in the minority.

And I guess when I look at the stats perhaps I have a fonder memory of Alls than he really deserves? I've been guilty of that before.

I always liked BJ Lane and if Pope wasn't around at the same time, I suspect he would have put up some impressive career numbers.

Not sure. They are probably pretty even. My memory of Alls isn't too good. I think he had a pretty good year in 2002 though. 6.6 a carry.

The thing about Alls is that in Urban's system, Harris was the guy the went to when they wanted to grind it out. There were games in 2002 where he had just about every carry in the 4th qtr. In the end, that may have cost them a win or two as Josh got pretty banged up

Other UDFA's:
- Jason Morton - 2 seasons with 100+ tackles
- Matt Leininger - I wish he would have been around for 4 seasons. He would have been a big help to those mid-2000's D Lines
- Brad Williams - solid mid decade D lineman

To Siborg's list - Gerling, Bautista, and Stanley (I had forgotten about him) were all really good players. I'm not sure who you kick off the drafted list to get them on a roster, but they were all solid.

I was going to take John Haneline, but I decided I didn't want another LB.

I struggled between Morton Carswell and Mayberry. I almost picked Owchar because he was Canadian.

I'd be interested to hear what other people think about the entire draft classes that were compiled. People have mostly commented on the individual players. What would be interesting is to see how these players would work together. For example, on my team, is AT enough of a running threat to keep defenses honest and not sell out on blitzes? Is he enough of a passing threat to keep them honest? He's a great player, but did he have an arm that would make the defensive secondary play the pass first?
