51 years ago today. Found a pretty good AP story from a few years ago. Such a tragic story.

Re: Cal-Poly anniversary
As probably the ONLY member on AZZ was actually at BG at that time, I too can say it's something that we'll never forget... I was on a double date with a good friend and we were heading back to campus on Rt.6...the fog was so heavy that he had to literally drive along the guardrails to see where the road was going. When we dropped our dates off and returned to the dorm, the whole place was buzzing with the news...the news that we now heard for the 1st time as we hadn't had the radio on in the car due to the tension of making it back to campus.
It was also one of the 1st things mentioned on our 1st "conference call" for my 50th reunion committee meeting when we were asked about things we'd remembered during our BG years.

I was also there with my dad, as I was a junior in high school at the time. We made the two page spread (if you knew where you were siting) on the inside of Life magazine, that showed a shot acroos Cal Poly's bench during the game. I can still remember being home after the game and hearing the news about the crash.

My mom and dad were both on campus when that happened...what a tragedy.
"The pilot got to make the final call on whether to take off, and Donald Chesher decided to roll with 48 people on board shortly before midnight. According to an FAA timeline, his license had been revoked for several violations. He kept flying, pending an appeal".
That is chilling.
