33. Bowling Green 2004 Record: 9-3 MAC
The hype has already started for QB Omar Jacobs as one of college football’s most dynamic young passers. He loses some of his weapons with explosive WR James Hawkins and steady WR Cole Magner gone, but the return of Charles Sharon and RBs P.J. Pope and B.J. Lane eases the pain. The defense will be fantastic as long as the safeties can be replaced.
Biggest offensive loss: WRs James Hawkins & Cole Magner Biggest defensive loss: CB Keon Newson
Here are Hawkins stats from last year: 25 catches, 318 yards, 2 TDs. I wouldn't exactly call that explosive. I think they have Hawkins and Sanders confused.

We just need to remember there are still those out there who can't think of why anybody would want to follow anything that isn't in a BCS conference, or in the top 10 every single year. There are those media types that still think they just need to brush up on how to spell our team name right, to know what they are talking about. These are the ones that continue to print the uninformed points of view we are talking about here.
The passing observer thinks BG won't have anybody left to catch the ball. I won't dispute we are losing some really talented WRs who did make a few catches a less experienced or skilled player would miss. However the heart of BG's success is the balance the program has developed. Omar is back. The OL needs some new bodies, as will the secondary, etc. However its clear that talent has been preparing for some time now. If the entire first string were gone, I'd worry. But the second string isn't starting, it is being integrated into a solid first string. We'll be just fine, if not better.

What the heck are they smoking?

I love the Falcons and have hope that we'll have an above average - possibly good - defense in '05, but fantastic?

Geesh.

Both UT and NIU should be ranked higher than they are. I don't know what Miami's situation will be next year so I don't have an opinion.
I believe the teams outside of 25 are decided with no more than a cow crapping in a roped off pasture.

33rd!?!?! 33rd!?!? It's an absolute insult. It's an insult to the players, it' an insult to the coaching staff, it's an insult to BG, it's an insult to the MAC. Needless to say, I'm insulted.
We finished 27th this year and we return most of a good defense, most of a fantastic offense. Skill players up the wazoo and perhaps the best Junior if not all around QB's in the country. This a team that will improve over this past year and this past year BG was a Top 25 team.
cfn is usually pretty favorable to the MAC and BG, I want to know who's running this conspiracy.

Shouldn't Boise be pissed?
They lost for the first time in 2 years and they are 32nd. Do they lose everybody?Warthog wrote:And fwiw, Boise St is 32 and Wisconsin 41.
Inventor of the Clusterf**k and Shoot offense.
Re: Shouldn't Boise be pissed?
Actually Boise St. will probably be better next season. CFN smokes crack before making those rankings. The Wisconsin one seems more accurate. Their defense is taking a big hit.Falcon30 wrote:They lost for the first time in 2 years and they are 32nd. Do they lose everybody?Warthog wrote:And fwiw, Boise St is 32 and Wisconsin 41.
