Bobby Thomas of Warrensville Heights and Mark Woodson of Shaker Heights, two of the top football players in the Lake Erie League, have chosen the Mid-American Conference to further their educations and athletic careers.
Thomas, a standout running back-linebacker for the Tigers, will sign a national letter of intent with Bowling Green, and Woodson will sign with Kent State. Feb. 2 is the first day of the football signing period.
A two-time all-district and all-state honoree, the 5-11, 203-pound Thomas rushed for a school-best 1,706 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He also made 87 tackles and was chosen as the LEL Erie Division Player of the Year. He set a Tigers single-game mark for rushing yards with 325 against Southview and finished as the school's all-time leading ground gainer with 4,079 yards.
