I will never root for Toledo. Ever. I guess Rocket_Fanatic is a better person than I am.

I'm not sure I agree that a Toledo bowl win (or a win for any team) is 'good for the conference.' How exactly is it good? Will these wins give the MAC more bowl bids in the future? No, the only way the MAC gets 5 bids is when there are barely enough eligible teams to fill the bowl slots, and they HAVE to take MAC teams. This is the case in all sports (with the possible exception of volleyball -- apparently, the MAC is a freakin volleyball power conference now).

In basketball, both men's and women's, MAC teams have won NCAA Tournament games. Does it result in more bids the following year? We haven't had 2 women's teams make the tournament since 1995, and we haven't seen 2 men's teams get in since about 1998, IIRC.

So, I'll continue rooting against Toledo in every game, in every sport. I think it's called Schadenfreude, but perhaps Schadenfreude could correct me if I'm wrong. And if hating Toledo is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
No problem if you never root for UT, I respect that decision.

The MAC doesn't need more bowl games, but it does need to win the games they are in. Between 2000-2009 the MAC went 11-20 in bowl games and a lot of those wins came early in the decade. That ranks them 10th out of 11th conferences with only the Sun Belt having a worse winning percentage. Having a miserable record in bowl games looks bad for the conference. Ask the Big Ten about their perception after going 1-9 the last 2 years on January 1st (2nd this year). If the MAC can get one more bowl win this season they will finish 4-1 and be second only to the Big Twelve. Actually if KSU loses to Arkansas and NIU wins the MAC will end up with the best winning percentage and I think that is a good thing and a bragging right to use for a year or two. I feel much better knowing we play in a conference that is winning it's postseason games than one going 0 for the bowl season or only winning one.
