I hope all these guys stick, as you never know until they sign on the dotted line. But I do like the look of this class on paper thus far.

Will Coach Watson's departure to Toledo sway 1 or 2 towards them? He covered the state of Ohio and kids really seem to like him.

Re: Recruiting class really shaping up well
I agree, class looks good. The coach's departure will not hurt us. They recruit as a staff, as a "program" and as a "university". While student-athletes like to deal with the recruiter for their area and their position coach, every recruit will have multiple contact point and full confidence in the situation he committed to. And we'll have an outstanding coach there in the spot soon I am sure. Of course, there might be possibilities of late things if a Big Ten school etc moves and so on. That is always there. Have no idea if that will be in play this year. And, rarely, something personal changes w a recruit. But the vast majority of commits in every sport are committed to BOWLING GREEN. Position coaches and assistants are key sure, but it is always a team effort literally.

Very disappointing to hear hat Westbrooks is not going to be coming to BG after all. I loved his size at 6-3 and he led Palomar in receiving this season. I thought he could have been that one target we had to try and replace Kamar Jorden.
GO BG!!!
Re: Recruiting class really shaping up well
Agreed. Also not sure why Nevada would be more attractive to him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to think of them as running the heck out of the ball rather than passing, whereas BG has a slinger at QB.BGSU33 wrote:Very disappointing to hear hat Westbrooks is not going to be coming to BG after all. Re: Recruiting class really shaping up well
They had two good WR's in Westbrooks and Alex Wheat....Westbrooks is from Cali...maybe Nevada seemed more attractive than BG? Wheat is going to Utah State....based on his comments on twitter we offered him....btw..their QB has signed with Kent State. Apparently, they had some talent on offense.
Gallon has good size...Joplin is as big as Westbrooks...we have TE's who I think are quick enough to split out and work up field like possession WR's. We'll be OK so far as size goes. The talent sure is there...I'm psyched to see what Gallon, Stokes and Coby and do....Joplin could be our next All MAC WR. He really came on at teh end last year. 250 we completed are gone.

Speaking of Stokes, is Malik in the mix at QB or WR? He's a heck of a good athlete FWIW.

Re: Recruiting class really shaping up well
I could see him getting some specialty packages in the wildcat next year, which might open things up since we'll have a threat to pass and run. I'd love to see that happen, actually.MarkL wrote:Speaking of Stokes, is Malik in the mix at QB or WR? He's a heck of a good athlete FWIW.
Re: Recruiting class really shaping up well
Nevada runs the pistol (their head coach Chris Ault invented it). They certainly do run a lot but they do pass out of it as well as Nevada, like BG, lost a slew of seniors at WR. Nevada has been to something like six consecutive bowl games and they are moving from the WAC to the MWC so I can understand the switch. But it still sucks for us. I wish he was coming.drumstix2388 wrote:Agreed. Also not sure why Nevada would be more attractive to him. NEvada's also much closer to home for the guy. He's from California, or at least that's where he went for junior college. Moving from CA to Ohio is no small deal. NV is a neighbor.

Re: Recruiting class really shaping up well
Maynard at DT had already passed Gilbert on the depth chart last year, and was seeing extensive time with the first 4 rotation. He will push for the starting nod at DT, and Campbell could be moving out to DE.
Baird will not be a DT , as he is way undersized and is a better fit at DE.

Minns isn't a DE...he's a DT.
