Schorejs wins it for the Browns!

Post by TG1996 »

2 point win, two PAT's for Derek... that's how that whole "game winning kick" thing works, right? :D

And, slightly off-topic, I only saw the last play (and replayed it many times)... this McCown kid might be a pretty good deal. I'm a little more interested about the pick than I was in April.

(BTW, the "3 year plan" for Josh in Baltimore apparently includes putting him in a box on the top shelf this year. I understand that the third and fourth preseason games are used to start getting more of a feel of a "real game" at least through the first half or so, but to put him in to take one snap and a knee? That's almost an insult.)

The final play was really just a hailmary. Nice play by the receiver. Good job by Luke getting good air under the ball. Although he did a great job to elude the rush and get that pass off.

However, everything I've seen of Luke this preseason (and heard from others at practices) makes me think he will start in the NFL. From my vantage point he's already light year's ahead of Holcomb based purely on his athletic ability and arm strength. I'm excited about his future as well.

Last night's game was a fun one to watch. The Browns first team beat the KC first team (7-6). The most encouraging was that the rush defense shut down Priest Holmes pretty good. Our first team RBs looked AWESOME yet again. This Green/Suggs combo is going to be very, very good. The TD drive that the first team had was sweet. Willie Green down the left sideline for like 50 yards. The very next play out trots a rested Lee Suggs to scamper 26 yards for the TD. Defenses will have trouble with that all season. We don't have a top 10 back in this league (yet?), but we've got the best 1-2 combo, IMO. People always say RB by committee doesn't work, but that's because most teams that try it don't have one talented back. The Browns have 2 very talented backs who will be fresh all season as they combine to wear out the defenses :)

I'm excited about this Browns team, although I'll likely get my hopes crushed again :(

I know that hail mary's are just "throw it up and get lucky plays", but the way he threw it, slinging it from his off foot, almost from his hip showed alot, especially after scrambling from one side of the field to the other. (and especially to do that in a hail mary situation in a preseason game, it would have been just as easy to duck a sack for 10 or so steps and heave it wherever). Holcomb has to get the feeling he's a backup for life again, unless he happens to sneak in for a year between Garcia leaving and McCown being ready to go.

The play of the RB's last night impressed me, too, or at least got me thinking of how a two-headed back system could really work with those two. But then again, I kept thinking that last night could have been a "Jamal Lewis" type game, where a few carries added up to a bulk of the yardage. Either way, they've both proven they *CAN* be studs running the ball, now if they can go out and prove it. A repeat of Byner/Mack in '85 would be nice...
