Aren't students required to carry health insurance? Does this apply to athletes? So would the athletic department foot the bill for athletic injuries...or would the student athletes health coverage cover it.

Never really thought about that before...

I was a lowly D3 athlete and our insurance we had through the athletic dept was outstanding. I broke my foot in practice and had surgery and paid nothing out of pocket.

I believe BG Orthopedic Surgeons handle the surgerie, I know Dr. Barker is listed in media guide an often on the sidelines.

School will bill the students insurance first , if the player is covered by a plan(parents or guardians), then the balance is covered 100% by BGSU. Either way, player or family pays nothing.
