I don't see one comment "ripping" the guy. What I see is one person, saying that this isn't a big deal, and several others stating that "yes, there are consequences of his action, that are in fact, a bit of deal". I really fail to see how, Transfer or 61 have said anything that is "Crucifying" Hopgood.

By having a now two page thread on a public popular BG sports website about the infraction.
Seriously, let the folks whose job it is to handle this handle it. If we feel like the coaches are doing an inadequate job handling discipline or if there are a lot of repeat incidents then criticize the coaching staff. However there have been so few incidents of player trouble that I think we can fully trust our coaching staff to handle discipline issues.

So, 17 comments, by 10 people, on the internet, will have a lasting and important impact on this situation?

- violent
- involving severe public safety to many many others (e.g. DUI), or at least that has been made public
- involving illegal drugs
- a felony (or at least I don't think it's a felony)

He made a mistake, yes, but that does not mean that we, alums, fans, and largely people who do not know the young man personally, are entitled to rip his character apart ... in a PUBLIC FORUM ... where it has to live forever. END OF RANT.
Yet Jim Tressell is a snake.....interesting.

That is correct.

I think Coach Clawson did the right thing (and the best part is......most people have no idea as to what all the punishment entails. Not playing at Florida is only one part of it).

You mentioned how his mistake was no big deal. If it's "no big deal" why does the charge carry a possible 6 month jail term and $1,000 fine? I doubt Jordan gets either imposed on him by the court, but I could see a suspended sentence, probation, and a $250-500 fine. You think he can afford that fine?

If you thought commenting about how he would have to check a box on his application and admit to being convicted of a charge other than a minor traffic offense and how he would have to answer what the dumb act was is crucifying Jordan, you and I have extremely different definitions of crucifying.

I believe the 6 months and $1,000 fine would be for the 50 year old dad buying booze for his 17 year old sons high school party.

Not the college kid who bought a 20 year old girl some Smirnoff or his buddy's some Natty.

Jordan needs to get some better friends. What kind of friend would rat you out?

He DESERVES a six month sentence and $1,000 fine if he bought'em Natty!!!! Even if you're buying for someone of age!
