I know a lot of us on here think John Harris is a complete idiot, but he did try to take Amstutz to task in yesterday's editorial. He questions why the two fourth string guys have been kicked off the team before the case even goes to trial, yet Brock Dodrill (all-Mac linebacker) served 90 days in jail tis spring and is back with the team already. The double standard at work.

wart, double standard at UT is probably correct as pointed out by you and Harris. I bet the UT president's gut just churns when these negative events occur and the ensuing "punishments" are published. Very, very difficult to handle these situations in multiples over the course of a year and can be very damaging with certain alums while fund raising. Not every fan/alum/giver views this as Coach A just being a "player's coach".
We have a veteran (and good) DT suspended for two full games (minimum) for an underage drinking offense and conduct while drinking. No injuries, no etc. Meanwhile, UT's best DB goes nuts on a policeman and others in a very well documented case- and he never misses a game! Then we have the other examples there. Just amazing.
I am glad we have the coaching staff in place and philosophy exhibited in how we handle a problem such as we had with our DT. I want to be a fan of a program like Bowling Green's. And if we ever take the path I see up north, you can bet my support will change.
But that won't happen.
Go Falcons!

I think that coach Doughnut knew who was likely to be charged right after the incident. I think he chose to place so much emphasis on the "police investigation" becasue he knew that a couple of 4th string guys were getting charged. Witnesses on the scene, the Toledo Police department and the University all seem to agree that at least 10 to 12 more players were at the party. Why isn't coach Doughnut taking further action against those kids that showed up as part of the goon squad?
I think this is another case of Doughnut looking at the depth chart and letting that guide the degree of punishment he levies.
