You're right Transfer, UNLV fans deserve better. They're getting ripped off.

And they fall into the mold of what would work at BG in terms of a new facility that would not only fit our needs, but it would propel our facility straight to the top of the MAC. Both North Texas and FAU were playing in arguably the worst facilities in the country in recent year (I also saw both of their old facilities) and their new stadiums are GEMS! In terms of renovations (and staying in the Sun Belt), I was also impressed with what Western Kentucky's overall facility was like. There are some Sun Belt facilities that put most of the MAC's to shame right now.

Western Kentucky does nothing for me. It really just looks like a glorified HS stadium. North Texas looks great. If you are going to do it do it right. WKU does not look like a division 1 stadium.

Of the three I like the North Texas stadium the best. I've always felt when both ends of a stadium are open it looks small time. 30,000 or so is about the right size for BG. I also like a stadium with a second deck. To me it gives it the look of a big-time stadium. Perhaps I am a little to fixated on these two factors but I would think recruits would want to play in a stadium that looks like a major college facility. I wasn't real crazy about Western Kentucky's stadium but it's better than the Doyt. Couldn't really access the FAU photos but the one picture I saw looked pretty nice. I also believe if they were to have a stadium with the south end enclosed it would help cut down the wind a bit.

Have you been to WKU's or are you talking about what you see from the picture? Because the other side (not pictured) is a double-deck grandstand with more seating than the side shown. I didn't think that much of WKU's in photos until I saw it in person. If you think WKU's is a glorified HS stadium, then the Doyt is a glorified middle school field, because right now, WKU's is much nicer/better overall. But I do like North Texas' better as well. They did a fantastic job, and did it much in the way Akron has. WKU's was an example of a renovation with some cool modifications. But North Texas hit a home run, and it's day and night better from what their old stadium was like (it was a dump).gspointer wrote:BGSU33 wrote:I would STRONGLY encourage BG to look closely not only at what Akron has done, but also what North Texas and Florida Atlantic have as both have just recently built new stadiums and both stadiums are fantastic!!! Ive been to WKU's Stadium. Its actually pretty nice in person. Beautiful campus on a big hill (Hence the Hilltoppers lol). I like North Texas better from what I see. Id like to see the Doyt get an upper deck at least on one side and the south end zone filled in with a hill or stands.
