Or strong safety ...
How about tight end? :P
Sounds as though he fits more into our prototype for a DT :(

Based on information that I'm getting, Ball State is totally outrecruiting everbody, with NI not all that far behind. Crazy.

Because they're offering PT. That's usually the #1 thing recruits want to hear. They want to see the field their first year. We have more depth than other teams, so we can't tell them they'll automatically having a starting job.

Yeah, we recruited guys off our 2-9 season. You can get good players to turn around a program by convincing them it is going to happen and by promising they play right away--as opposed to sitting on the bench for a redshirt year, and maybe most of two other years.

Based on everything I've read to date (and it may be way too early to be making a judgment), but I'd say that BG ain't doin all that well in their recruting efforts. Looks like Ball State, NI, even Akron are outdoing themselves and certainly BG.

I'll wait for 3 years to determine which class turned out better between BG, Akron, and Ball State. I would bet good money that ours turns out to be the best, though.

It looks like a bit of a down year in Ohio. Additionally, Cincy is picking up a lot of the kids that Miami, UT and BG got in year's past, so we're all looking to go out of state. I guess that's why Amstutz is traveling far AND wide.

I'm not willing to put too much stock into what they recruiting services say about our class. It looks to me we are picking up some quality kids with the right physical attributes.

I don't ever remember us getting more than one or two players off of the Detroit Free Press Top 50 in any year, but it looks like we could get as many as five this year. :D

This is true... that said, the directional Michigans are in the market for a great deal more of them than usual as well.

Could it be a down class? Could the Free Press be horribly wrong about some of these kids this year?

Hard to say.

What I found intriguing was that the Detroit News said it built its list, in part, by confidentially talking to college recruiters.

That would appear to be an NCAA violation. Was I the only one who picked up on that?

I guess we'll have to settle for three TE's.

WOW--who from staff recruits that area?? Big time haul if 2 or 3 on fence come thru. Nice to see we're nationwide now--LA, FLA, SC, PA and more.

The Roanoke Times (Virginia) is reporting that Jacob Hardwick, a 6-3 255lb. defensive end from Ocean Lakes H.S. in Virginia Beach has signed with us. I don't know anything about Hardwick but I know that his area is the best talent pool of players in Virginia.

From the Roanoke Times: "...An overlooked prospect who will be signing with a Division I-A program is Jacob Hardwick, a 6-3, 255-pound defensive end from Ocean Lakes in Virginia Beach. Hardwick is going to Bowling Green..."

Michael Ream Info

Post by Crew Love »

For those of you who can't find any information on "Michael Reams", it's because there is no "s" on his last name. It is Michael REAM.

Ream is a 6'4", 230 pound tight end from Bluffton High School. In his senior season, he caught 53 passes for 635 yards receiving, which was good enough for First Team All-Northwest District and Honorable Mention All-Ohio in Division IV. This was actually somewhat of a disappointment, as in his junior season, Ream was Second Team All-Ohio in Division V.

Bluffton's offense was run in a spread set-up that was very pass happy. Ream is physical and has good hands for a tight end, leading his team in receptions. According to the OHSAA website, Ream's 53 catches were also among all receiving leaders in Ohio.

Ream is a big, strong guy who is an all-around athlete. Aside from being a standout tight end, he is a state qualifier in track for discus, and has been Bluffton's basketball team's leader for the past 2 or 3 seasons.

If you want more info about Ream and his prospects with BGSU, I could try getting some insider information. My younger brother is good friends with him and has played on several Gus Macker teams with Michael.

Just thought I'd help...
