Re: IU game
IU shouldn't be close. Mississippi State should be close.
Re: IU game
I think we are better than IU but playing a BCS team always gives me some worry. They have talented players and will be able to put up some points.
Re: IU game
Don't know what happened against Navy, but IU has a very explosive offense, especially passing. That may give BG fits because, honestly, what little I've seen from the BG secondary doesn't fill me with confidence when the DL fails to get pressure.kdog27 wrote:I think we are better than IU but playing a BCS team always gives me some worry. Wilson has IU on the rise for the first time in a very long while...and he's brought in some very talented and fast athletes at the skill positions. BG's defense will be very challenged by this team, make no mistake. This isn't Tulsa we're talking about here; it's a much better team.
BG has some very good running backs (a whole stable of them, in fact) and now has a QB who isn't a statue for a defense to tee off on. So I do believe that BG can score a lot of points against the IU defense. This may end up being a fairly high scoring game.
Re: IU game
Navy gave them fits with 444 yards on the ground. IU's problems are on defense, I have little doubt that they will be able to score. I think we need to score 35+ to win this game.
Also it's not like they just lost to Akron, Navy wins a lot of games against BCS opponents.

Re: IU game
A few tidbits. Indiana has opened as a 2.5 point favorite. Interesting to see if the line moves at all. 2.5 points means BG would be favored on a neutral field (Falcons are 2-0 vs the spread so far).
If you haven't bought tickets or if you have and want to see where you're sitting, Indiana has a neat interactive stadium map.

USA Today had the line opening at 3. Looks like everyone's line has moved to 2.5.

Either way, it's basically a pick'em on a neutral field.BGSUfalcons wrote:Actually, Indiana opened as a 4 point favorite.Falcon137 wrote:A few tidbits. Indiana has opened as a 2.5 point favorite. How cool is the kid's field behind the south endzone at their stadium.
Very neat idea to get kid's excited for their team/program...

Falcon club would never go for it though.

What probably happened against Navy was defending the triple option..pretty much only the service academies (and G.Tech I think) use this offense...tough to adjust to something you'll only see once per yr.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
Re: IU game
I think our secondary is vulnerable to their potent passing game. There were a lot of open receivers last week against Kent and while their freshman qb had some good moments, he wasn't able to get the ball to his open targets to the same degree Indiana's qb will. We will need our d-line to get lots of pressure. Hopefully we'll have Walker back for this one.kdog27 wrote:Navy gave them fits with 444 yards on the ground. I agree, we will need to pile up a lot of points to win this one.........and I think we certainly can. Our ground game looks awfully strong and Johnson was excellent last week, both with his feet and his arm. IU's defense will be hard pressed to stop our running game and if they load up the box, we can gouge them in the passing attack. I look for a shootout in this one and it may come down to turnovers or a late field goal. We have done an excellent job in both of those areas so far, hope that continues. Also hoping we will have Chief back at full strength.

Re: IU game
Gonna be a very difficult game, especially against a team who was embarrassed at home Saturday vs. Navy. However, I think BG can beat them with a smart defensive game plan and holding the ball and extending drives on offense. BG wins this game, and they'll likely be 6-0 heading to Mississippi State.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: IU game
It's such a different offense than what BG has seen to this point. Indiana's offense reminds me of San Jose St, it's the spread but they are looking to throw it all over, not have designed QB runs and read options. BG consistently had 3 LB's and a safety in the box the past 2 weeks. This week you will probably only see 3 backers in short yardage and goal line situations. I would imagine it will be a 4-2-5 look pretty much the whole game.Beaker wrote:I think our secondary is vulnerable to their potent passing game. You're right about needing Walker back, the defensive line must get better pressure than a week ago.
Guys like Will Watson, Josh Pettus and Jude Adjei-Barimah are going to need to step up big this week.
