After a disappointing first half it was nice to see such a complete effort in the second half.
This was my first game of the year and I must say I was totally shocked at how few fans attend today. I guess the weather was too nice to attend today and folks needed to rest for the Ohio State game tonight.
Great second half!
Re: Great second half!
Great comeback in the last 3 quarters. Sad to see the small crowd. Worst officiating I have seen this year. Matt Johnson hit so many times, he'll be sore for several days. Go Falcons!
Re: Great second half!
I'm not sure I've ever seen a game officiated that bad. I don't think I've ever seen BGSU's crowd get that nasty about it. I know I've never been more tempted to find something to throw at the officials.GB68 wrote:Worst officiating I have seen this year. Matt Johnson hit so many times, he'll be sore for several days.
For all of the tic tac flags they threw on our players, they had no problem with Akron tackling by the face mask, or Akron sending their DE to spear Johnson long after he had already gotten rid of the ball.
Something should really be done about it. Never mind that their crappy calls extended Akron's drives and kept them in the game....we very well could have lost players for the year, given that Akron clearly picked up on the fact that the officials were refusing to call penalties on them.
I don't know how coach Clawson kept his cool today. I sure didn't, and neither did many people around me. I saw people screaming that never get worked up today.

Worst officiating I've seen in a loooooooong time. We did what we had to do and closed the deal.

Agreed on the officiating. Our D linemen could all use some new jerseys after all of the stretching from holds they endured.

SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS ON THE AKRON GAME:
1. Several plays should make the season's highlight reel--The Bobble, Catch and Score; The Double Back; The Flip and Run; The Knock Down.
2. IMO the precise moment Akron lost this game: deciding to punt rather than go for a Fourth and One Foot on their first possesion of the second half.
3. This team is like all the great teams at BGSU--they keep their cool, and they figure out what to do, and then shut the other team down. A real savvy bunch!

I'm sure it's not going to matter, but I am going to email the league office. Consistently poor officiating is one of the things that really brings the conference down. And today, there were several times that someone could have been injured.mmisbg wrote:I'm not sure I've ever seen a game officiated that bad. I've considered doing the same, with the same sentiment about the potential effectiveness.
Biggest problem I have right now is thinking of wording that doesn't come off like a raving lunatic.

We better not get that crew in the Toledo game. The athletic department should make sure of that.

Seriously, I tried finding an avenue for voicing concerns last night, but failed.
Anybody having better luck?

Re: Great second half!
The worst thing I saw was the leg whip Greene took...the Akron defender didn't try to fend off the block, he just dove at the guy's feet and then whipped his legs around towards the area Greene was running to. Greene dodged most of it...but it was a nasty looking play that could have had some serious consequences.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
