Nice article/interview with former Falcon Chris Jones

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."
~~USCHO Poster
"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Great article....and what a surprise that he named a fellow teammate as a role model. Chris is truly a quality young man...I wish him the best...surprised that no one from BG has posted a comment or two, but the Indiana folks certainly have. \:D/

He's a great representative for Bowling Green, and he's getting a chance to show his stuff. Great job Chris!

Apparently that is a new rule this year. It appeared Jones was lined up in such a way that they intended to do that. I wonder if the ST coaches new this rule or thought it would not be called.......or CJ did it on his own.

He certainly got plenty of close ups after that play. Luckily they didn't say his name each time.

I wasn't able to watch the game? What happened? All I know is he was penalized for something after a Jets missed FG ...

He pushed another Dlineman in the back on a NYJ FG attempt.

The announcers were pretty shocked it was called but he clearly did it. In fact he lined up a half step back and stunted straight into the guy next to him's back.

They said it was a rule intended to avert injuries. My question is how its not ok here but perfectly fine for any FB or TE or pulling guard to do the same in any short yardage situation. They are always smashing into the back of their own teams players and pushing forward.

Just by the sound of it, sounds like an effort penalty / coaching penalty. Bummer that it led to the game winning FG but shouldn't impact Jones' status there. Belichick likes players who play hard every play. Jones fits the bill. He landed at a good place.

Just caught a replay. That is now a penalty? Why? I mean I just learned the rule exists, but why? How is that a player safety issue? Weird ... Belichick will probably have a thing or two to say about it

Anyone else wondering why the Lord works for Chris, but not Coach Orr, from a successful career standpoint?

And Belichick did have something to say

http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/i ... -york-jets

Supposedly the rule is for players who aren't lined up on the line of scrimmage (a second-level defender as the rule calls them). Chris was lined up on the line of scrimmage so that's why Belichick believes it shouldn't be a penalty
